Do people really consider Carolina a rival? Like they’re a good playoff team who we’ve been competitive the past couple of years but I wouldn’t consider them a rival just a good hockey team

I know they’re not a rival but I hate the fucking Lightning

The NHL has done away with rivalries with the way they create the schedules now.

Our rival is Toronto. Not the Leafs, but the league.

Your rival is the playoffs since u always seem to choke in them

I am still bitter about the fatty Brodeur years

all of the northeast is collectively rivals with one another in any given sport

IMO rivalries died when they went to the 4 division system. Used to face your division rivals twice as much in the regular season under the old division system

“I don’t think about you at all” as as post is made literally about exactly that 👍

This whole thread is a lie we think about these teams all the time (which is okay)

especially carolina because we’ve fighting for playoff positioning with them the past 3 years

Washington would’ve been the most recent rival. Right now I can’t say. Boston?

You’re the most irrelevant of the original 6 that’s for sure

The Islanders won the same number of Cups from 1980-84 that the Rangers have won since 1926. The Penguins have one *more* Cup in 42 fewer seasons. The Devils have won 3 Cups and the Hurricanes 1 since the last Rangers win. The Flyers have more Cups than the Rangers in the years they’ve been in the league, 2-1.

The Rangers are, without a doubt, the least successful franchise in NHL history with only *three Cups in 42 seasons with only six teams*, and only one in the 56 seasons since expansion.

ONE CUP since 1940 and you guys still manage to be the most smug fan base outside Toronto.
