I feel like that article jumps to a bunch conclusions without any basis in reality. The team played fine against Washington and had 2 blunders, it happens. They were outpolled by Nashville who is playing great after their Vegas trip to see U2 was cancelled. They just completely shut the Kraken down. I didn’t see a lack of effort at all in either game. Of course the players are going to be frustrated. That’s a GOOD sign. Their playoff hopes have largely hinged on catching Nashville and unfortunately they’ve been on a hot streak while we’ve been middling.
Also Hakstol is never going to publicly call them out to the press. That’s not who he is nor, IMO, who he should be. Those kinds of coaches are a dying breed and that’s a good thing.
Feels like this article was written more out of emotion than anything.
I fully expect downvotes because reality checks don’t go over well on this sub.
Edit: forgot to add all these recent articles forget we are without our top offensive defensemen and one of our top scorers.

Spark’s notes version via AI in. case you’re short on time, or reading is generally an issue:

The Seattle Kraken are in a dire situation with four consecutive losses, but Head Coach Dave Hakstol is short on explanations. After a devastating loss to Vegas, they’ve struggled, lacking the urgency needed for a playoff push. Despite Hakstol’s insistence on confidence, the team’s performances have been lackluster, marked by defensive lapses and uninspired play. Players are frustrated, admitting they don’t know what’s going wrong. Hakstol points to technical flaws but fails to address the deeper issues causing the disconnect within the team. With playoff hopes fading, there’s a sense of pointlessness permeating the games. Hakstol’s lack of accountability only exacerbates the problem. To improve, the team needs to be honest about their shortcomings, starting with Hakstol acknowledging the issues and taking responsibility.

I would be curious if there was an explanation for the lack of chatter in that Preds game, and I would like one of these reporters to specifically ask about that incident rather than generalities about why they aren’t winning. It was an embarrassing look for the team and needs an explanation.

Sure seems like the article is over-analyzing the situation to me. The team has basically no offensive standouts, and we’ve struggled to score all year. Last season we got a ton of scoring out of that 4th line, we shipped them out and replaced them with guys who you really wouldn’t count on for lots of offense, and made basically no changes to the other lines. There’s some long-term roster implications to why they did that, and I’m not going to dive into whether or not it was a good idea, but I think it’s fair to say losing some offensive chops was a side-effect of that move. On top of all that, last year was a career best for like half the team, fair to say the roster was performing probably about at the maximum it was capable of.
The defense has been generally pretty good all season, it’s fallen off a bit as the season progressed but the season average numbers are still around #8 or so. Goaltending was a bit of a rollercoaster with the huge dip around November, but it’s been between above average and excellent since early December, and the season average is right around middle of the pack.
Offensively we’re like a bottom 4 team now. Both in xGF and actual GF. Last season we actually kind of sucked in xGF terms too, we were bottom 8 or so then too. But we had a pretty bonkers SH%, second only to the Oilers, which saved the day. If you’re going to point at something wrecking this season, it’s definitely that.
I don’t think there’s some huge mystery here, we don’t really have much scoring talent on the roster and it burned us this season. We probably aren’t fixing this without finding some, either from players we have growing a bit with another season under their belt, or people we bring in from the pipeline or FA/trades.
