@Islanders de New York

1. Hi Gil, going to the game tomorrow with my son Scotty. That might be my last game for a long time. I am not happy the way they play and I think 🤔 it has to do with the GM Lou 🎉 Lou built the team and they are too inconsistent. The team needs to be stripped and keep Patrick Roy 😮I love ❤️ UBS arena and it’s one of the best arena’s but we can’t win 🏆 i don’t know 🤷 what to say anymore!

  2. Of course it is. There isn't anyone in their right frame of mind who wants to waste all their hard earned money.
Dear season, please hurry and be over and put us out of our misery….Thanks, signed life long Isles fan of 53yrs…

  3. I saw sales are down 5% since the first season. I’m not surprised it’s going to be a lot worse next year. My uncle and cousin had seats for Saturday. ( They have season tickets) Couldn’t make the game so they sold seats on the secondary market. Seats cost them $250 a game plus they have free parking. They only got $200 back for the game and parking. Why would anyone buy season tickets when you can just get them on the secondary market and save money??

  4. I know I’m reasoning with the unreasonable here, but I would love to understand the logic with the MTA/LIRR not renovating the Belmont Park station that is <1000ft from the arena doors.

  5. Like you said the construction 🚧 issue will go away after a couple of years. If we do make the playoffs? Trust me, it’s going to be a full house. I have to admit it amazes me how people complain about UBS Arena that was made pacifically to watch hockey. (I don’t get it)? When I had to travel to Brooklyn or drive all the way to the Nassau Coliseum (after the game or concert the traffic was backed up)! I live in Suffolk County and it was a hike to watch them play in that dump, we called the Barn. I think 💭 these are younger fans that weren’t born or were too young to experience the pain of the 90s “Oh, the pain!” or are they just complaining to complain? I’ve never been to UBS Arena, but my son has been there many, many times and he loves it!
He and his girl (or buddies) will leave the car at Ronkonkoma train station and they don’t have any problems. But, keep in mind they are in their middle 20s. I don’t know about you? But I thought I was invincible from 20 to 30 years old.

  6. Now that the Belmont garage is being eliminated as a parking option, the islanders seriously need to reconsider using the Belmont Park LIRR station. It's ridiculous to have people use shuttle buses or walk a half a mile when the train can drop them off 500 feet from the entranceof UBS. According to the Newsday article, many fans feel that losing the option to park near the arena negates any benefits are paying for a season ticket. Islander management needs to wake up.

  7. Hopefully the Canes best the isles 10-1. It's time to send a message to ownership. FIRE LOU LAMORIELLO AND HIS SON IMMEDIATELY!

  8. Hey Gil, I agree with almost all of what you said but most people are looking at this as a fan, as am I but I’m also looking at it as a realist. I said 2 years ago and you can go back thru your shows that the isles couldn’t care less if they won or lost, they were seen after games numerous times acting like they won when they actually lost. The isles of the 70-late 80s found losing unacceptable and they held each other accountable, today you get lip service, hockey is no longer just a pure sport that we loved growing up, it’s a business and they’ve gone out of their way to be too involved in the community. I haven’t been to UBS and I won’t go, why would I ? While it’s true there’s nothing like being at a game, it’s also true that I can sit home or go to a sports bar or friends house and not sit in traffic, not spend $40 on parking and be less aggravated when they lose ! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, ownership really doesn’t care if they team wins, if they lose it’s a write off for tax season and while we’re in the money part of this, let’s talk about the rest of the property being built up ! Who is going to go to an area in the outskirts of a war zone ( the 105 Pct ) take a chance of getting robbed while shopping then go spend more money on a game ? It’s all about money for Malkin, Dolan and the rest of them and the fools keep spending money on tickets, parking and food ! My sister and her family have gone to Atleast 15 games this year courtesy of her brother in laws Corp seats, excellent seats by the way but she said there’s no way she could afford 4 tickets, parking and food if they weren’t Corp tickets ! Malkin, Dolan and company made a very poor business decision by promising to rebuild the area and we are gonna pay for it in the end !

  9. The owners are very enthusiastic, and they built a great arena. Hiring Barry Trotz was a great idea, but Lou, not so much. They have done a poor job owning this team. Enthusiasm doesn't suffice if the team is going down the tubes and the plans around the arena falter.

  10. Predictable old ass boring team with too many overpaid slugs who cashed it in 2021 that don't care anymore comfy married to louzer. This is a gm/ownership problem. No one wants to watch 18 do nothing or 27 move like a snail out there. This was all about the ca$h cow prop. bros ca$hed in on with two ecf trips moving into a new building and don't want to break that party up. To the fools that pay for that garbage-i pity you. Try jr. hockey. Much cheaper and you watch guys who are hungry and give it their all. The dynasty was worth seeing. 5, 9, 19, 22, 31. Those days are long gone. Even the two 16's and 77 were fun to watch. Palffy went to waste thanks to inept ownership and gm. Only an inept gm signs 8 players 7-8 year max who will be way past their expiration date when their deals expire in a cap world. Only inept owners would allow that. Owners whose main goal was to get new building and sell all those nice suites-winning be damned.
And caps won at flames and jumped isles and wings into 8th spot, Sabres won at kraken and are 2 pts. behind isles now in 10th.

  11. This team is stuck in the "murky middle". Good enough to contend for a playoff spot, but not a Cup contender. They are a slow, plodding team that has to get young. Management is going to have to tear things down and build them up again, if they're serious about winning.

  12. Hit ownership where it hurts. In their pockets. Maybe theyll start to look into whats goong on with their product and make appropriate changes… ahem Lou. Truly a disappointing season. Really feel bad for Bo and Barzy because you can tell they want to win and still have the fire and determination.

  13. This team has no "A" game credentials. I involuntarily missed the last 4 games on TV and MISSED nothing. Women's Basketball has been more entertaining.

  14. Good 🌄, Gil, how are you? I knew The Islanders activated Bartuzo, how it works out remains to be seen. They've got Carolina tonight. The Islanders attendance is taking a hit, tickets sales are going up, and the team's not helping matters by not looking so good; however, if I'm glad they're not playing in Brooklyn. I said it before, they can make the playoffs if they can stay focused on the tasks at 🖐. The Islanders are still having problems with their specialty units whether it's PP, or PK. Patrick Roy's right they're not motivated, and I said it the other day, THEY NEED TO GET PO'D forgive me for putting it like that, but it's true. Some of these veterans ought to know better than to be unprepared for matinees and back to back games. You're right, Gil, they need to trade for some younger players, especially a BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID type. The Islanders have got to play the 🌀 tonight, and they're a dangerous team, 🏡 or away, so The Islanders need to be prepared IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD. HAPPY 🎂, MATS HALLIN, who had the biggest night of an Islander was on his 25th 🎂 he hot a 🧢 trick beating The Flyers 9-2. Hear from you after tonight's game, Gil, LET'S GO ISLANDERS.

  15. One of the biggest problems, Is that most of these players are locked in to long term contracts with no trade clauses. They are comfortable with their group, And it has become a country club atmosphere. All of their buddies are together, and not going anywhere. It's no coincidence that right before the trade deadline. They put together a few wins, Basically guaranteeing lou wouldn't make a trade to alter the chemistry. As soon as the deadline was over, They are played declined. I think the problem is this team Is way too comfortable, And if they make the playoffs they do if they don't they're okay with it.

  16. just wanna say thanks again for this awesome channel. you ARE my first listen every day!

  17. Hey Gil – The ownership has to understand the honeymoon phase is over and fans have had enough. The owners need to pay attention to the fans and the product and not the Gm and President who keeps telling them everything is okay when in fact it is not. I'll say this if they don't play tonight with effort and heart the crowd will be chanting for Lou's Job and we are right to do it.

  18. im pretty sure they have lost 21 games when leading going into the 3rd period…its in there heads…they should have won 70 to 80 percent of those games..if we won 30 percent of those games we would be close to 1st place..they sit in the locker room and convince them selves that there done…its in there heads they lost the 3rd before it started..they need to spank the hurricanes tonight…no nail biters a complete blow out…and lou has to go..what he has done is a shame…i just watched last night…i feel bad for sorokin..this poor guy is standing on his head and hes getting no help

  19. I went to six games this year, including the stadium series, and they didn't win once! Very frustrating and not making me want to go back for the rest of the season.

  20. Ugh I know I said I’m done watching them but I am gonna watch!!!! I hate that I love the islanders so much! Geez I’m an islanders and jets fan winter doesn’t get anymore miserable. But I’m gonna be optimistic and hope the season becomes a fabulous disaster. By that I mean maybe finally the rebuild will start. It’s been overdue for wow I’d say over ten yrs. So it’s gonna be a tough couple of years. But at least when I’m 76 they may be in a finals match

  21. How the heck are they raising prices?!?! Wow and we can’t even say well screw it we can go see a Bridgeport game because they’re horrible

  22. Not to single out a player but Engvall is like 6’3” 215lbs around and he plays like he’s 4’8” 76lbs and he’s sign until like 2067! I think other than Barzal, Dobson, Sorokin maybe Holmstrom I’d say everyone is tradable

  23. Good morning team. Gil, you're absolutely right. The Islanders, at this present time, lack the youth, speed, skilled players, and possibly the will to compete and win5in this NHL. The problem I see with that, it may be SEVERAL years before that turn around can happen. That's why I have said it before and I will say it again. Take the absolute fastest skaters we have on both the current Islander and Bridgeport team. Those players will be the "NEW" NY Islanders. Teaching those faster, and hopefully younger players, will be the job of the coaches. Put them through real life situational drills, so they can improve there stick handling, puck movement, what they should be doing and looking for while they both, have the puck, and don't have the puck. They may be killed in a lot of there games, but at least we know this is the worst they will be, but a better team is around the corner. It would make hockey fun to watch again, and I would love to be in attendance when that team wins there first game. Go back the the most recent Bruins game. He out of us didn't enjoy our Islanders beat them to almost every puck. Those odd man rushes and the scoring. It was exciting!! The Hurricanes are up for a beating next. See you all tomorrow. Until then.. Let's Go Islanders!!

  24. Speed has given the Isles fits for 2 or 3 years, and it's gotten worse. Just look at all the 3rd period failures. The Sens and Rags have speed. The Isles hung with them as long as age allowed. This locker room must know the off season will be all about moving families and contemplating retirement. The fanbase must know we are in for years of painful games as bottom feeders. Will players like Sorokin, Barzal, Nelson, Dobson and Horvat want to hang around for that? I wouldn't.
One option may be to strike agreeable trade deals for our stars and stock up on top prospects and picks. Then let the untradeable vets stick around for the rebuild. I think that would be the only way to have a chance at being competitive in 3 or 4 years. Otherwise, our current stars will be older and hitting the age downhill slope just as a few draft picks are moving up to the NHL. We may then start making the playoffs, but our draft picks will be in later rounds and the cycle will repeat.
I'm for a "sell all" approach to the rebuild. Once our stars see reality, I'm confident most would agree to move on to a true contender.
