Also the 21mill available cap space doesn't include Ferland's 3.5mill which would go on LTIR. Unless he's planning to play again

  2. I think you could start season with 20 players. Rathbone and hoglander is waiverexempt and could go in for game nr 2 when ferland goes on ltir. Will save 1,8 mil

  3. Rumours are they like Halak

Sutter's contract will be gone next year as well with the Lugono penalty

Now sign Petterson and Hughes and maybe Hamonic and of course Dickenson

Rumour is they are looking to bring back Luke Shenn as well

Smindt just got traded to Winnipeg so that is almost 6 million off the cap as well

  4. We need a legit backup goalie, not sure if DiPietro is ready just yet. Maybe sign someone for like 1-2 mil range.

  5. Okay, good move; either way, rid of Holtby's contract and keep Schmidt – right move. Too much to pay (AGAIN) for Garland; but Benning has no idea how to keep the money in his pockets… ugh!

Question is now: Who do they sign as backup? I expect you want someone under 2 Mil. per, for 2 seasons, when DiPietro can step in. (Maybe only 1 ?!?)

I would go after Laurent Brossoit, if you could get him at 2 Mil. (.5 Mil raise). But that might be difficult.

Aaron Dell? Decent numbers (until last season playing for terrible team), veteran presence. Could / should be able to get him cheap, Played for only 800K last season.

Carter Hutton? Terrible last 2 seasons (playing for Buffalo), so you could wrangle a huge paycut from him; but 5 previous years, he was good to very good, playing for Nashville and St. Louis – very decent value there, if we underpay him for the work with The Sabres.

Or go on THE CHEAP, and bring up DiPietro now; but that's REALLY risking an injury to Demko derailing the season.

Could get Jaroslav Halak for less than 2 Mil, I bet, for 1 year. But that's about all that's available, at a reasonable Cap hit, or there was no point buying out Holtby.
