Bad luck and Tortorella is a mean guy……..OMG these guys are delusional! It`s shocking, that there are still people buying this nonsense and all those lame excuses! This is a soft team with barely average goaltending, poor D and a few talented (and overpaid) forwards, that regularly fail to deliver in a postseason. Guaranteed first round play off exit! The only solution is to fire Shanahan and bring in someone with credibility.

This show fails to hit the key points most nights and it took JB to see the Domi Matthews connection Tonight.
We have wasted many of Rileys prime years trying to make him what he is not and tonight was a glaring example of Rileys impressive offensive talent if we only got him a solid shut down partner like Schen in the playoffs would've covered his defensive warts with offense not many Dman could actually create.
Trust me Domi and Matthews and Riley a solid d partner missed out bad with Tanev I think and goalie that could stop a puck when you need it done and this team would be atleast 10 points up.

classic matthews era leafs game here: do nothing until there's 2 seconds to play and then try.
Hitting goalposts often means the goalie had the shot. It’s easy to think that if the shot was just an inch inside, it would’ve went in, but most of the time that just means it would’ve hit the goalie’s glove, blocker, pad, etc.
Mathews was terrible defensively. He floats in the defensive zone. 2 Flyers goals he didn’t even attempt to go down and block the shot. Hell, sometimes he actually tries to get out of the way.
When tough teams dump and chase and get a cycle going on the wall, Mathews tends to float, looks disinterested or lost on his assignment. When the puck comes out to a shooter in the slot, he often floats to the front and tries to get out of the way of the shot.
Maybe Keefe’s defensive zone system is an issue. But Mathews definitely needs to get it together in those situations. Teams like FL and Boston will take advantage of that, (as the Flyers did tonight), they are built for it. Mathews needs to want to defend as much as he wants to score. Because he won’t have that time and space in the PO like he does in the regular season.

The couturier benching was completely fair. Hes been awful for a good stretch of games. Doesnt matter if he wears the C. You don’t get special privilege.
As long as there's volatility in a consistently inconsistent squad, there will be a feast for fodder. Regardless of how the remainder of the season unfolds, the D needs to be a priority focus next year.
