[Brian Wilde] 23 défaites d’un but.

It really is incredible how few goals we get from the rest of the forward lineup. So many guys are on pace for fewer than ten goals.
We have a good powerplay that will only get better with Dach back next year, and hopefully with Hutson being an upgrade over Matheson in the long run as well. Dach being back should also help a bit with the second line, I’m not convinced that anyone else on the team right now is going to be a 2nd liner material but we do have Roy and Newhook who aren’t complete longshots. Between them, a few free agencies, a top 10 pick this year and a plethora of tradable prospects coming up it’s not an impossible task to find those two top 6 wingers.
We’ll need to hit on one true 1D or two really solid top pair Ds but we definitively have the prospects to fill those roles already in the system barring really bad luck.
Goalies and depth are also looking pretty good for the foreseeable future, once we have gotten rid of most of our bad contracts and in so given time to our prospects to find their game we might just have a really bright future.
Definitely on the right track. We’ve been keeping up with some good teams as of late.
Add in Dach, another top 6 (maybe Zegras) and allow the defense to grow a bit more and suddenly half those losses become wins.
Gees thanks captain obviuos

Josh Anderson needs to be bought out, like yesterday
Dach’s injury doomed this team before they barely started the season and Monahan’s trade pretty much doomed the team as a one line team. I can see another addition to the forward group as a real possibility in the summer (another Newhook like player) or maybe Roy continues his progression?
Next year will be another small step ahead, maybe they challenge for a playoff spot, fall short. They’ve done well this year with this lineup of one first line and 3 4th lines – they’ve been in 23 one goal games and there is no quit in these guys and that’s the key point for me. The thing that used to drive me nuts with previous versions of the team was how easily they took the foot off the pedal at times. That attitude really seems to be gone now.
Will they make the playoffs next year? Maybe, likely not. For me 2025-2026 is the year I would circle ion my calendar as the year to expect to see a team that is in the middle of the pack. That’s the year I’d consider bigger moves like buying out Gallagher and going UFA hunting.
I want to be optimistic for Dach… but I really hope this is not the norm with him. Dude just seems like he is made of glass, can’t stay healthy. Relying on that is not something I want to be doing, but… since it’s still a rebuild I am willing to give him one more year… if he can just avoid injuries for 82 games I’d feel a lot better about our scoring depth.
Goaltending saved this team, especially in the first 20-30 games.
