Not sure this one was worth staying up for, but at least Slaf’s point streak continued! Felt like his passing was a bit off this game but it cleaned up as the game went on.

Xhekaj continues to impress me. I’ll be honest, I was in the camp of thinking that fans were overvaluing him when there was that chatter about his value prior to the Laval stint. I harp on about young players needing time to develop all the time but I really didn’t expect the progress he’s made this year.

the Canucks are such a weird team

I love Guhle and think he’s going to be a great dman for us, but my god, he needs to develop a bit of a mean streak. Have Xhekaj show him how to lay the boom on people.

    Disappointing but not surprising.

Wasn’t really expecting much from this game tbh, happy Slaf got a goal, I think the habs generated as many chances as they could against a really good team and ultimately DeSmith played very well.

On a eu d’lair d’une team AHL contre une team NHL. Les Canucks sont à un autre niveau. GG go next Go Habs Go

I believe we fall to 6th last now? Terrible game. Can’t believe I stayed up and watched that. 12 goals in our last 7 games and 3 of those were against the team with the 3rd most goals against.

We got in a hole from a couple bad calls (especially the non-call on Guhle getting elbowed) and it’s hard to play down 2-0 to a great team.

If we had connected on a couple of decent power plays, it’s a different game, but that’s how it goes. Slaf continuing to put up points makes it easier to take the L, although the Senators suck so much that we aren’t gaining any draft position.

Why we have so damn many days off on this road trip? Off until Sunday now

  10. bcgrappler

Well, slaf got his, we just don’t have the talent past the first line to do much.

  11. HabitApprehensive889

There is one line that can play, and 3 that are just caved in it feels like.

I’d like to see newhook with Dach next year.

The PK looks solid all of a sudden…That’s a positive.

Guhle had a target on his back tonight. Tough kid. Sorry but Arber needs to shut that shit down.
Caufield had a great game tonight! The PP looked dangerous except for that pesky inability to score and the PK was great.
    Evans is very under appreciated.

  14. That game gave me some serious sadness in person. Really really sad showing in front of probably 60% Habs fans.

The bottom 9, aside from the obvious ones like Evans, Newhook, and Armia , is somehow even more brutal to watch in person than TV.

I know Pearson and White are gone at the end of the year, but they are so fucking painful to watch.

Anderson looks completely uninterested and is just doing cardio laps. Not finishing checks, nothing.

RHP is looking like a true AHL grinder, always behind the play. Just really sad.

Started out real strong, the reffing in the first period killed any momentum we had. No calls on stuff that should’ve been penalties (Elbow on Guhle) and calls on stupid shit (Guhle interference call)

Slaf scored and continues his 2nd points streak of the season.

Xhekaj looks really solid, loving his poise and toughness out there.

    Good tanking game.

P.S. Conor Garland is a bitch.

  16. BlackCharle

Watching the game live made me really feel sorry for Newhook…which in turn made me miss Dach even more

  17. Was in the building tonight, 8th row by the Habs bench. Had a pretty clear view of Guhle eating that elbow and I’m not sure how the refs managed to miss that. You hate to blame a non-call as a turning point in the game, but instead of it being 1-0 and Habs on the power play, 5-on-5 continues and the Canucks score very soon after.

Canucks are a really good looking team though. Highly aggressive forecheck and they’ve got some good players on that squad. Was happy we shut down Miller/Boeser/Petersson but their depth was on full display.
