Maintenant qu’une partie de la poussière est retombée après l’annonce du Seattle Kraken, je parle du projet d’expansion, de la rivalité géographique et du réalignement des divisions. Hi clay great vid hope u have a great day
Who might the Canucks lose in the expansion draft? And how quickly will Seattle become the Canucks' rival?
Can't wait for the battle of Cascadia!
The most significant way Seattle will affect Vancouver is through the rivalry that will be created. It's the longest lasting. Players come and go and the divisional realignment doesn't really matter much to the two teams in question.
I don’t think rivalries are primarily born through geographical location but more so personnel between teams in an organic manner. There is no indication of an instant rivalry between teams unless it is viewed as a rivalry between the fan base, but this is not the case for the teams themselves.
Hopefully having the kraks so close would mean less travel for the Canucks.
Hi Clay, I agree with your list.
#3 isn't a small thing. The Vegas situation was/is hugely unfair to the Canucks and especially their 50 year fans, and I expect Seattle to be no different. The other divisions didn't have to win against the gifted powerhouse (Vegas) to make the playoffs and that in itself makes the expansion inherently unfair for any team in this division. Seattle, like Vegas, will be gifted a team that will likely finish ahead of the Nux in playoff races in near future effectively penalizing this division twice and it is doubly unfair.
I know you try to remain positive Clay, but it is OK to acknowledge that this is unfair and will be bad for Canucks and fans when it happens. This basically shortens our contention window to this playoffs and next. Sure hope the boys get it done, because its back to the cellar of the division after that.
Sneak dissing the yotes 😂😂😂
If Virtanen is protected in the Expansion Draft that would be a big mistake. I prefer to see him exposed if he is not traded. How many years must we wait for this kid to wake up?
I wouldn't protect Myers…
If the Rivalry is anything like Seattle Portland in junior hockey there's going to be a lot of blood!*>
With only 1 season on the NHL roster … would Tryamkin be exempt if he resigns after his upcoming KHL season?
Clay…awesome stuff….however…this will be a HUGE rivalry right from the start..When the Canucks were a minor league team in the old WHL they had a great rivalry with the Seattle Totems…it's a Cascadia things…just like the Whitecaps and Sounders in Major League Soccer…The Canucks since they started in 1970 have never had a close geographical rival like this…Look for these games to be intense……
