  1. 15 million when he’s gonna be 30 or almost 30 is insane. That will handicap any team that signs him.

  2. I think it's more likely that he comes in around the $12.5m range. Not that he isn't worth $15m per year, but you also need to look at what teams can and will be able to afford that cap hit. He will not go to a place where there is no chance to win a cup. He's a star player. So places like Montreal, Ottawa, San Jose, Anaheim, or Arizona are just out of the question. The thing is, those are the teams with available cap space. I think it also has a lot to do with what McDavid is looking at doing. Those two are pretty much joined at the hip.

I think a more likely situation is that Drai signs a 1 year extension, for a little bit less money than 15 million and then let the chips fall where they may.

  3. lol why would he leave a team he’s playing with the best player on the planet on one of the best teams, they’ll do anything to keep him and Ottawa and Montreal currently don’t look close to winning.

  4. The Only way Senators and Montreal Canadians will be asking for a huge retain which Edmonton Oilers doesn't want to do

  5. Calling $8.5million "underpaid"….. that's hilarious.. almost as funny as the $15mil idea.

  6. 15 Million just doesn't fit what the Habs are building, you got Suzuki under 8 and your gonna give Drai almost double that? I don't think so

  7. I got a better trade He can stay in Edmonton, Willie Nylander and JT can go to Calgary, McDavid can come home to Toronto and Oilers can have MacKenzie Weegar, Kadri & Markstrom 🤔😜🤪🤪

  8. Its 15 because either they move him to a contender or he stays and never wins a cup but you can be sure hes gonna get his bag if thats the case

  9. Draisaitl is not going to Montreal or Ottawa. The tax rate in those cities is insane! He'll go for a lower cap hit in a no state tax city and net more!

  10. Here's what we want in return if we trade Drai to following teams. OTTAWA – Tkachuk, + + + MONTREAL- Guhle, Hudson + + LA KIngs : Byfield + + Kraken : Wright, Beniers +

  11. The Habs won't be re-signing Armia, Dvorak or Savard… The Habs will most likely be relying on players still in their entry level contracts on Defense with the exception of one or two players, they will likely try and move on from Matheson and his contract, And likely try and trade Gally and Anderson's contracts if they can. if they HAD too for some reason they might Buyout those two or trade picks with retention just to get them off the books. they can absolutely afford Leon.

    that said…

Kent Hughes made it clear he's not interested in having "super stars" that leave him in a position to have no cap like Edmonton.. he literally used them as an example of what not to do.

I don't see a world where Edmonton doesn't have McDavid and Draisaitl… whatever Cap gymnastics need to be made to keep them together I'm sure the GM will make it happen.

  12. He’s pricing himself out of Edmonton, chances are he signs for less. Probably with the Bruins. They should trade him to any random team and get something for him while they can— with them having hope they can re-sign him some how for less. lol I guess Arizona could pay him 15 mil per.

  13. 2:35 u dont even know what Matthews makes AAV… u r terrible dude/./. try harder.. how hard is it to look at salary cap LOLOL.. fkn geek

  14. Trade Lane Hutson, Reinbacher, Slafkovsky, and Caufield for Draisaitl and sign him to a 8 yr $112M contract.

  15. right. everyone was saying 8.7 was too much for larkin but pastas contract was gonna be 14 or 15 and he ended up taking a discount at 12 whatever……so yeah, contracts are getting up there.

  16. Naw. Draisitl isn't leaving McDavid because he's not stupid, and just look at his desire to win the cup. Leon in his head, would be absolutely out of his mind to leave for salary now.

I don't think he's that guy. I think he values commitment and winning over a few million dollars.

Not joking, you can see it in his face when the Oilers lose.

  17. He won't take less money like Crosby did. Imagine if the Oilers win the cup…. 15 M seems likely now

  18. Another fantasy that will not come to fruition. We are in a flat cap era and by the time Drai's contract comes due, everyone will know that we haven't come out of that era, and the ones that signed the stupid money contracts will be in a heap of hurt with "bad contracts" for good players.
