  1. Petry is a bum and needs to fkn retire this summer, every single game he makes such bad passes straight to turnovers

  2. Blueline is trash, it's not just Petry. They're cooked and I don't see them making up too much ground next season either.

  3. I disagree, I mean not with the fact that Petry has been bad this season, he has one good game in five it seems… but the problem wasn’t Petry at the and of this game, it was the lack of, I don’t know, talent? during the scramble. That puck was low in the zone and in front of the net for far too long. I would try Holl though, because why not? He doesn’t provide the offense, but he’s got a good reach and is maybe a bit more physical. Well… tougher to move anyway. I think the Wings should have mixed up the offense a little and probably tried some screening plays because Saros was all over it today.

  4. It was a scramble situation. While Petry has been what everyone was hoping for, it was just bad luck.

  5. Fischer coughed up the puck at the wrong time. Unfortunately, for him, he will not play next game.

  6. When you are shut out in a 1-0 game you can't really just blame one guy. The entire team stunk. Every last one of em. Where is Kane? Where is Debrincat? Where is Larkin? Where is that rookie kid everyone has been hyping? Why did the coach not try and wake them up? The culprits are plentiful. Piling on Petry is silly and lazy. Gotta call em all out for that stinker. The only players worth mentioning by name in a 1-0 shutout is the winning team's goalie and the player who scored. Everyone else on both teams kinda just stunk.

  7. The phrase "great team" in all of sports is getting ridiculous. They are hot but "great team"?Give me a break.

  8. I really hate to dump on Petry because his dad was a home town hero but it is true. He just is not delivering the defense. Constant turnovers and failed clears.

  9. All Petry had to do that sequence, was bump Forsberg once. I understand Fischer failed to clear it before, but it feels like Petry is good for at least 1 backbreaking mistake a game. All while making $6.25 million smh

  10. Petry is vulnerable when he's on weakside. Zero gap control. Zero backside containment. Honestly He appears at times to be a 4th line forward caught playing defense. You cannot reach to defend. You have to move your feet with a busy stick. I want him to play the body then transition.

  11. There are several players on the Wings who should not be re-signed whatsoever, and one of them is without a doubt, Jeff Petry. Other Wings who should not get a contract extension, or at best get a massive reduction in pay, or should just be placed on waivers are Perron, Veleno, Hol, Cop, and Compher. Although it's common that the Wings do it by mistake, this time (during this game) I witnessed Veleno shoot the puck in to the Preds zone after possessing the puck and then not really making a fruitful effort to recover it and just maybe set up an offensive play? No, not Veleno. He's spinning his wheels out there-either no productivity or no team effort on his part (unlike Maatta, Fischer, Rasmussen, usually). Doesn't seem like Veleno is even trying to score or set up a play for the Wings to score. In other words, he is wasting time just like Petry has basically done for the majority of the season. Another one is Perron who is like grandpa on skates. I think Perron just can't keep up with these younger players. He's too d—mn slow, has no speed on the ice, and doesn't seem to have the energy to match up with anybody else. In other words, Perron is wasting time being on the ice, just like Veleno and Petry have done for most of the season. Hol is self-explanatory. He better not get any kind of a contract after this season. Copp and Compher should either be placed on waivers or get a contract extension with far less pay than they signed up for. Otherwise, they ought to be nixed as well, since they have not been reliable with either scoring or contributing greatly to team defense or offense for the bulk of the season. And neither do I think Larkin to be worth 6-8 mil $ per season since he's getting hurt every 6 weeks or so, but it's not worth getting in a thread scuffle over arguably the most reliable non-goalie player on the Wings. Wings should sign Raymond to a healthy contract, b/c I think he's one of the most important forwards, if not the most important, on the Wings roster. Kane should get an extension, if possible, but Wings need to be careful with this one, because he's getting old and doesn't skate as good as he used to, although he handles the puck better than any Wing on the ice. Debrincat does contribute in points, especially with assists, but if he wants to continue playing in Detroit, he needs to show more productivity and speed on the ice with odd man rushes like he did during the the game against the Islanders. Seider is a fan favorite, I guess, but he's not my favorite. Until he shows me that he can skate, score, and play defense for 20-22 minutes a game, he is not worth a huge contract, at least not like Raymond's. Wings better hold their noses with this Seider. I think Edvinnson will actually be more reliable than Seider. Wings need to try and keep Edvinnson, as long as he can stay healthy. Edvinnson kind of reminds me of a much younger Nick Lidstrom– they're both Swedish and smart. Fischer, Maatta, and Rasmussen need to continue playing good if they want better contracts (I guess Rasmussen just got one, but if he's not consistent to the end of the season and going into next season, that bigger/longer contract they signed him for could turn out being an overestimated flop). I think Fabbri, Gostisbehere, and Sprong are all toss ups, but have performed on average, and I think, better than Copp, Compher, Veleno, Petry, and Hol, and should either get a year extension or a multiple year contract at a modest price—— emphasis on the word, MODEST. Otherwise, they ought to be traded or not taken seriously. Now, back to the purpose of this thread—– yes, Petry totally screwed this one up/allowed Forsberg to wrister it in the net without even putting a stick on him or a forecheck. Petry, as well as several others on this squad, really haven't earned any kudos this year and, thus, should not be taken seriously to be on next season's roster, or be used as backups if at all possible, and we know their egos won't allow that. Have a good night.

  12. Petry and Holl are both bad. Both substantially over paid. Luckily they got some salary retained at least with Petey, unfortunately he has a no move clause. So good luck moving him Steve. Buyout candidate? Trade Holl w/ salary retained? Anything! Detroit has 2 defenseman on the books for next season who are “safe” with their jobs. Seider and Walman, the rest are on the hot seat. Trade em, buy em out or anything possible to get rid of them.

  13. Wings don't have a top 4 right handed D other then Seider – they have Seider and then have a bunch of Top 6 Dman. When Walman is playing well he makes a decent pairing with Seider but when Seider is out its evident. You're delusional if you think Holl is a better option than Petry – they're all the same with their own issues. Suck it up.

  14. how Petry continues to be in the lineup is mind blowing. he’s been so bad all year and we’re just now bringing Edvinsson into the lineup. could’ve used that swap much earlier in the year.
