The score does not tell the game story. Canes dominated with a good forecheck and they controlled the neutral zone most of the game.

Went from high-flying offensive game against an Oilers team that can’t play defense with a shaky goalie, to playing none of the best defensive systems teams the next day.
Leafs didn’t adjust their play style and couldn’t get high danger chances for majority of the game. Need to learn to play tighter defensively from the jump against these teams because that’s what we will see in the playoffs.

Give some credit to the Canes for their structure. Their PK is aggressive giving no space. Their 5-on-5 structure was fantastic. The gap between the forwards and D is tight. Whenever the Leafs had the puck outside of their own zone there was always a Canes player within 3 strides of the puck carrier. As for the Leafs PK and defensive structure: the problem is largely an issue of having a lack of talent. As for the PP: I put equal blame on the players for lack of execution and coaching staff for not designing a PP that can beat one of the best PKs in the NHL.
