  1. Dallas is one of those teams that, unless you’re a fan of the Stars or closely paying attention to their Division, you don’t think of as much as, say, Colorado, Edmonton, Vancouver (at least this year) or Vegas.

But they’re they are: 101 pts and leading the Western Conference, 1st in Goals For and a respectable 14th in Goals Against (Oettinger/Wedgewood in net) 8th on the PP, 10th on the PK and seven different guys with 20 or more goals.

Wow…if this ain’t their year to at least reach the Finals, when will it be? 😳

  2. Stars are one point off the President's trophy, first in the entire western conference, and are clearly the best team Dallas has had in 25 years. You can see it in the comments here, the Stars are the Rodney Dangerfield of the NHL – they don't get no respect!

  3. The Stars live and die by Otter. 2nd in the League in goals for and not a single player with 30 goals. Team can score top to bottom. Just need Otter to keep them in games and let the offense roll.

  4. Definitely live or die by Otter in the playoffs. We know they can score and the defense been much better lately. This team can win a cup

  5. I think Stankoven's small stature makes him really good at sneaking up on opponents and forcing turnovers. He's largely responsible for his +8 rating.

  6. The Kings game that started the win streak was also the game they unveiled the Mike Modano statue outside the arena.
#9 still carrying us all these years later!

  7. What’s crazy about Dallas is that while they are playing much better and are already sitting at the top in the west and are a contender for the President’s Trophy, it still feels like Dallas does have the potential to kick it up another gear even from where they are at right now.

  8. When the Stars face the Jets in the Conference Finals, the winner of that will all come down to whoever had the most depth. I think these are the 2 best teams in the conference, too.. well, the ones still around in round 3 that is, hehe.

  9. With Benn we see this often. A slow season, but by the end he is on a tear. Right now he is destroying teams and Stankoven/Johnston have helped.

  10. Otter's play will really dictate how well the stars do. At this rate, Jamie Benn will likely become the 8th stars to reach 20 goals on the season. This team has the best forward core in the league. They don't have to rely on 1 or 2 guys to do most of the scoring and assisting. If a couple guys you can look and say are slow or disappointing, someone else will get the job done. This team looks really dangerous.

  11. Quite a different tenor with this video for the Stars compared to the one earlier for The Canucks… certainly more optimism.

  12. I'm calling it now, mark my words:: Stankoven and Johnston are both going to the Hall of Fame.

  13. As you mentioned, the last time Dallas won the President's Trophy was 1998-99. so there might be something there.

  14. The thing with Robertson that all but the most harcore stats nerd fans are missing is that his defensive numbers this season are off the charts. He is contributing massively to team defense and has been much more of a 200 ft. player than he was when he was scoring 40+ goals. He should be in the Selke conversation, but he's not because people are only seeing him as an offensive player having a "down year"

  15. i went dallas vs the rangers in my pool .
otter has been up and down . makes me nervous .
i dont like being nervous ,but it does make it more fun .

  16. Born and raised in Texas, watched and played football throughout my youth, but JC do I love Stars hockey!! Let’s go get it boys! Fan since ‘98

  17. As impressive as a 6 game win streak is the thing is this is against the Sharks, Penguins and Coyotes twice. For a good team like the Stars really only the Canucks and Kings should be a challenge anyway.

  18. A week or two ago Shannon said that Dallas was not a contender. lol had a feeling he would have to eat those words. 😆
