  1. Ah yes, the magical story of how Harrison Ford saved the Avs!

I hope they mention about the “Rockefeller Salute” lol

  2. I almost thought this was from the tank year of 2017 to the Cup in 2022.

But that's another part of Sakic's career.

  3. After Messier left the rangers 97, they missed the playoffs every until 2006 after the lockout season. That was the impact of the Avalanche matching that deal. The Avs in that time made 4 conference finals and won one Stanley cup, Joe Sakic was not only a great player but an all time difference maker

  4. All I think about this is how Messier signed with and RUINED my Vancouver Canucks! He came in and spread his sh*t-mist everywhere: stripped Linden of the captaincy; arranged for fan-faves to be traded; brought in renowned a-hole coach Keenan! Man, I wish Canucks management and owners had pushed for Sakic! Sakic was a local boy, and even he never understood why Canucks teams never made serious overtures to him and his agent. Sakic was a perennial Canuck killer! Fun to watch — even when scoring against us!

  5. No Sakic, likely means no 2001 cup, and potentially no Sakic GM for the AVS meaning no 2022 cup!

  6. A captain, a leader, a difference maker, and a people person all rolled into one. Not only was he a difference maker on the ice he lead by example on and off it. Cheers to one of the best and more so one of, if not, he classiest player to play the game.

  7. The Rangers could have used him but a series of bad missed trades in 95 and 96 are really what haunted them

  8. Now imagine if Sakic goes to Rangers, no Cup in 01’. BUT what if Joe feels more like a Ranger than an Av? Maybe he never returns as GM. Maybe the Duchene deal doesn’t go or Mack doesn’t get drafted. They don’t sign Bednar after Roy, and they don’t draft the undersized Makar.

So the success of Air Force One might have cost the Avs franchise two Cups, and a decade worth of successful seasons.

  9. Sakic got me in love with hockey .. back in 2002 Winter Olympics Gold Medal game , when i was 10 . : )
