As a note it was actually Toews awarded the goal. They must've seem him touch it last.
I love how sports fans will just create stats. "Home point streak" is dumb. If a team goes on a road trip for six games and dude gets zero points on that road trip then plays a home game and gets a point, its not a real streak. Just a way to make something sound more impressive than it is.
Avs are my 2nd fav team & I cant stand their commentators
I can see the refs followed the rule here, but… why does the rule exist or why does it need to be enforced this obtusely? The goal wouldn't have happened without MacKinnon's pass, so what is the NHL risking by giving him (and Ranty) a point here?
Your videos are absolute shite, lad. As a long-time viewer, I use to get excited when I would see a new video out by you. Those days are long over.
You have such a unique opportunity with your hockey interest and subscriber number. There are not many creators out there that make hockey related videos like you. There are small storylines to be told in the NHL, and that's why I've continued to click on your videos. McDavid just had a game where he came to 122 points and is now only two off the league lead after having just 10 points on November 10th, 2023. He's been a contender for MVP for a while, but is even more of a serious contender as I type this.
Despite this, you took time to produce this fucking shite? That of which amounts to nothing more than hackery?
'Did Ryan Lindgren purposefully FUCK MacKinnon's home point streak?' Based off what happened in the game, you could make an argument about this. That's only if you were unbelievably lazy and utterly delusional.
If you can answer the questions to your absurd, lazy, and clickbait title within the first 7 seconds of describing the situation in which it occurred, and do so by saying '[the nhl rule] makes sense.' That is the point where you scrap the video and come up with something better.
Quality, not quantity, Eck. The former is almost always what differentiates the 'good' from 'great.'
does anyone care that much about a home point streak? seems contrived if youre not counting road games too
I don’t like the shootout either, but I think it’s far better than a tie
Didn’t say georgiev right
to your first point, there is a video angle shown that looks more like it hit/bounced off doods forearm more than glove
MacKinnon did not get screwed, he didn't get a point on that goal, nor should he. End of story.
i get it’s how the rule book is written but honestly the concept of making a goal unassisted is really dumb to me. you’re telling me you can dump a puck back into your own corner, get off the ice, and then two guys pick it up and pass back and forth to score 30 seconds later and you still get a secondary assist, but mackinnon gets nothing on a play like this? it just doesn’t make sense
Same thing happened in the recent Kings vs Bolts game. Matt Roy misplayed the puck after stealing it from Brayden Point and it ended up in Kings net. Point was awarded a goal, Kucherov, who passed it to Point, didn't get an assist just like Mack against Rangers
Tried to stop your vid before the after commercials….fail
About time the avs get screwed.
Devon Toews was credited with the goal, not Rantanen. Toews is the one that shot it from the point then Lingren batted into his own goal
Video gonna cover Dallas?
And yet, the Calgary Flames were robbed of a goal a month ago for a "hand pass" that literally bounced off a players glove with zero indication of an open hand or batting motion. So I don't blame the announcers and team for thinking of a challenge.
Djeordjiev?
Those colorado commentators are handjobs. Maybee they need a rule refresher course
Love it or hate it (and I don't know any ACTUAL hockey fan who loves it) a shootout needs to be distinguished from a regular win in the standings. It is unfathomable that the NHL has still stubbornly refused to adopt the 3 point system and still has situations where some games are worth 50% more total points in the standings than others. It is jut another way that the NHL simply doesn't do things correctly and why they are so far behind the other sports. They used to be part of the Big 4. But they are sinking lower and lower, WELL behind college football and basketball now. Should be 3 points for a regular game win (including overtime) 2 points for a shootout win, 1 point for a shootout loss, and 0 points for a regular loss (including the 5 minute overtime) Winning a skills competition should not be worth the same number of points than winning the GAME of hockey. And a game that goes to overtime should not be worth 3 points total in the standings while regulation games are worth just 2.
They implemented all these rules to supposedly make the late game more exciting, but what do we get in overtime now? Literally half the overtime is spent with the team in control of the puck moving BACKWARDS. And again, since the NHL simply doesn't understand how to run a league, the word has it that any suggestion to put a stop to that by not allowing a team to take the puck back past either center ice or their own blue line in OT is shot down. The result is that no sport has a higher percentage of time the fans are booing BOTH teams, including the home team, than an NHL overtime.
A similar incident happened in another Aves game that was deemed a hand pass. That’s why the Aves bench called for the replay.
As for the Aves announcers being “homers”, Marc Moser and Mark Rycroft are simply the two most generous announcers in any sport I’ve watched that’s not nationally broadcast. These two just love hockey. They are quick to credit the other team, as they were with the Rangers. The closest announcers I would say are the Mariners baseball announcers. Both Moser and Rycroft just love hockey. Sure they love the Aves and put them on a bit of a pedant Al, but nothing like any other NHL team.
No, I’m not an Aves fan. Flyers fan.
As for the “own goal”, I agree with the rule, and ruling. Still sad to see the second longest home consecutive goals to start a season end, no matter how it ended.
You’re right, it was a great game.
I remember hearing this live I was so confused why the the commentators said it was a hand pass and lol rangers scored on themselves sorry but the rangers are clowns
That's not the full rule though.. It actually says assists may be awarded.
Don't care cuz, McKinnon is overrated by the national media. Conner McDavid doesn't get enough credit for the GOAT performance that he is putting together!
I’m a rangers fan but I was rooting for Mac to get that point, hopefully he can get it next season
NO
No
No, finally McKinnon and the abbys play en ELITE team and LOSE. That's what happened. His little streak no more.
lindgren pushed the puck in so its an unassisted goal to toews
I dig the Rulebook references!
When the announcers can't get the calls right, how can newer fans know what's going on?
IM JUST HEARING ABOUT THIS
IM SO PISSED NOW. I THOUGHT HE WOULD GET ALL 41 GAMES
absolutely not, avs fans are delusional.. first off that is not a hand pass, i feel ashamed my team even tried to get a goal called back on that.. second lindgren clearly puts the puck in his own net, not because mikko hit his stick or any of the dumb shit they are trying to say..
honestly its pretty embarrassing to be an avs fan with these clowns out on the internet..
if bednar actually cared he would have pulled the goalie like mack asked..
who gives a fuck about a stupid overtime point when your best player and future hall of famer is trying to tie a gretzky record?
he got some leeway with the cup win (not that he really did anything to earn it) but im getting real sick of bednar again.
Can you just put what happened in the video as a video title instead of how making a self centered video title about how you felt about it or how we should feel about it? I understand a few years ago you did hard hitting research and these video titles along with red arrows and parts of video titles capitalized get a percentage higher video clicks but it’s not working for you anymore. Time to try something new maybe?
Towes got credit for the goal. Had Rantanen scored MacKinnon would have got the point.
baiting people with question mark in a title while knowing exactly what happened
Watching the highlights for the game by NHL. They have the Avs announcers one second saying "watch the glove, I don't think there is enough to over turn it". And right after that you hear the same guy say "watch the glove, I believe theres enough to over turn it." The Avs annoucers are the west coast version of the Bruins annoucers
not a hand pass
I think Colorado should be more concerned that both Trotchek and Kreider were alone beside Georgiev over whether MacKinnon gets credit for an assist
The correct title to your video should have been: "MacKinnon was NOT SCREWED by the NHL."
lindgren own goaled therefore mikko never touched it and nates assist got taken and only toews got it
an obvious non hand pass to me. my question around the hand pass rule……let's say someone does intentionally hand pass the puck in the offensive zone BUT it gets DEFLECTED off an opposing player (not control of the puck, but a deflection) first, does that automatically negate the hand pass? if so, then that would be the SECOND reason this isn't a hand pass…..go to the :32 mark then go frame by frame…..on the 25/26th frame you'll see the puck deflect off georgi, so if a deflection is enough to negate a hand pass, end of conversation.
The Colorado announcers definitely know the rule book, the problem is that tons of refs have called hand passes for this exact type of thing. Its not a hand pass at all, but its not that different from some of the other hand passes that have been called. I don't believe bednar would have challenged the play if those type of calls weren't happening. So the announcers and Bednar were just reaching, hoping the goal would be called back.
Spoiler: no he wasnt screwed
I watched a Bruins game the other day… you wanna talk about biased announcers. One of them got mad every time the Bs got a penalty
I. Don't. Care.
More importantly, if it had been overturned as a "hand pass" (which this type of play has resulted in before), they really need to change what is challengeable. It slows the game down and is absolutely dumb to challenge little things like this, or when someone is offsides by an inch 45 seconds before a goal was scored. This type of thing is really bad for the game and the flow. They should get the calls right, but also allow for errors when certain situations do not directly affect the goal being scored.
Sucks it ended, but thems the rules. Great game all around though!
The Avs' announcer first saying, "I don't see anything there…", and one minute later, "I'm callin' it right now!!"… This will never get old. 🤣🤣🤣
