The real hero for me in that scrum at the end of the game was Mark Giordano. 40 years old, just back from LTR, and he comes up swinging against three guys at once to defend his teammate. The heart on that man is the size of a boulder.

Robertson's upside is essentially erased by his inability to play defense.
His hockey IQ inside the Leafs blue line is a negative value.

What gives me happy tears about Mathews 60 goal accomplishment is that Sammy’s shutout and comeback season. From not even being able to stop a puck. Literally. To one of the hero’s that’s can be totally relied upon every game, will be mentioned every time that talk about the game it was recorded in.

Couldn’t disagree more on Robertson. He is a defensive liability. He is super soft and will get eaten alive in playoffs. Our core is already soft, I don’t see a spot even going forward for him in the lineup. Especially for playoffs.

Might be an unpopular take but now that he’s got 60 Matthews should sit a game or two. He looks slow out there and even more so with the puck. He’s never been a burner with the puck but it’s gotten worse of late. You got 60, you’re not gonna hit 70, so sit and be at your best for the playoffs. Getting 66 doesn’t mean a thing if they’re an early exit AGAIN.
Do you wanna hear a fun stat? The last time Matthews hit 60, it was a 3rd period goal to make it 3-0 against Detroit, and the leafs would win 3-0. And the same thing just happened against the Sabres. 🤔
Hockey fans need to mature past the prehistoric superstition that makes them afraid to say the word "shutout" before the game is finalized. There's a weird mix of arrogance and ignorance to believe that the words you say in your living room have an impact on the outcome of the game.
