If I were Reinbacher's father though, I would ignore that small sample size of Habs fans who made inappropriate and immature comments about his son.

A couple of the women from the Habs website forwarded all the positive messages he got which far dwarfed the bad ones. Most people are happy with the pick now. I get how the Dad is still irked given the comments in question were insane but I think it's time to move past it. Wait till he sees the adulation his son is going to get in a few years when he is a key D-man on a winning team in Montreal.
This city, as much as I love the team, I was away for 27 years, as "passionate" as the fans are, this city doesn't know hockey anymore. Reflective in the 30+ years of futility. Still love the team, see a solid future, but there is a lot of garbage people here now, classless, to say it mildly. Waiting for my house to be completed in Stittsville, next to the home of the Sens, would prefer to live there. This team is going to be outstanding in a few years, but this city's fanbase is ignorant.

The insults posted on Instagram towards Reinbacher after the draft came primarily from Leafs fanatics impersonating Habs fans. It’s the nature of many Toronto fans who are envious of the Habs’ prestige.
I remember being upset at the management but that’s so sad for him… i was so happy for him because you know the draft is the most important moment in his professional sport life, sending to him hate is just incomprehensible…

Harrassment is wrong in person and online. We need to show RESPECT for the players. True Habs fans welcomed David and some did discuss the d man vs fwd pick without all the hate. Welcoming a young kid who has worked hard to get to the NHL and I feel lucky that the Habs have him on their roster. When he gets to the Habs, his fiurst home game BETTER HAVE BIG OVATION for him; he has had to endure a lot of crap to play hockey. Hope we make sure he feels welcome and respected.

My perspective is you shouldn't even get angry over a pick because there's all sorts of variables you don't know about that management might have to consider. However, if you do feel strongly about Reinbacher, or anyone else being picked, that should be directed at team management and specifically NOT the player (ie don't tag them, etc.) The player is absolutely blameless in the situation absent the rare case where they force themselves to a specific team.
Beyond that, reasonable people should be able to discuss their coaches, players, and team management reasonably and respectfully. If you can't it may be wise to pump the brakes for a bit until you can.

I am a sarcastic guy, and have been known to say pretty stupid things on line. I am a long time Canucks fan, and faces a lot of hate in 2011. I am also a heavy fellow, i could probably lose some weight. Yet, i have been fat shamed on line. There should be a line people shouldn't cross, but they do.
