Not a big fan of players calling the shots but I think the pens have to sit down with Sid, spell out where the organization is going and let Sid make the call. They owe him that.

Not a Pens fan, but they gotta keep him imo. Similar to the Yankees with Jeter later in his career. It would feel wrong to see him somewhere else and see him not go out on his terms.

  3. chrlau90

No. He’s a Pen for life. Trading him will not return nearly enough for it to make sense

  4. imDudekid

I look at it similarly to how Lundqvist ended his career. Final season as a Washington Capital just seemed wrong. Unfortunately for him, fortunately for his stats sheet, he had his heart issues and never ended up playing there.

With Crosby, it would just feel wrong to see him in another jersey. But ultimately he should have that decision. Nobody else.

Everyone remembers Canucks legend Mats Sundin

  6. dadass84

If he was still missing a cup, absolutely trade him to give him the chance elsewhere. Since he has 3 I think it’s safe for him to retire as a Pen.

  7. chronicallyunderated

Gretzky was traded, so if he wants to chase another cup let him

  8. AppaJuicee

He will stay a pen and be the leader that teaches the new rookies exactly like Lemieux did for him! No one could ask for a better vet to learn from.

  9. Luna0995

He could always go to St. Louis like Brodeur and be hall of fame St. Louis legend Sidney Crosby.

Sit him down. Have the owner write a number on a yellow legal pad and slide it to him. He will either accept or say no.

He can shake hands or walk out of the room in a different jersey while the owner bows his head down on the table.

Crosby has the trade value to make it worth while for the team to move him. He’d probably get two firsts assuming the Pens retain half the salary (maybe more if he gets to the deadline next year looking like he did this year), and while it might hurt fans for that to happen, if it is Crosby who wants another chance at the cup, then I think Dubas has cover to make the move. Culturally, I just don’t see it happening unless the conversation begins with Crosby wanting to move.

Come join your buddy, Marchy. Pretty much the same colors and everything.

  13. Free_Engine_8376

The guy is still amazing. Why waste his last productive years for bullshit like « He’s a Pen for life. »

Trade him, let him chase cups, and get a great return before he comes back to coach or be assistant GM.

  14. Is it already time for the weekly « Should the Pens trade Crosby » clickbait thread?

  15. Crosby to Edmonton for Perry straight up!

  16. warpedashell

You keep Crosby and everyone else is subject to trade. Here’s why. Crosby earns his right to stay and be the Captain every time he steps on the ice, his work ethic is top 1% of the NHL. Second, a rebuild is underway, like it or not, so keeping the star keeps ticket sales up when a team may not be competitive. Third, you can’t rebuild if you tie the hands of management. Dubas has hard decisions to make, you hired him to do it, let him.

  17. Trinidaddy13

I’d love to see him traded, but the organization will never do that because the feel some sense of obligation to keep him happy. If he ever gets traded, ppl will have learned to move on.

  18. _RiverGuard_

They gotta get to the cap floor some how

  19. CBennett_12

No. Because the trade value for Crosby doesn’t exist

  20. ZamboniJ

    Please keep running it back….

    Signed, a Rangers fan

  21. Kapeter

The only way that Crosby leaves is if he wants to end his career playing with a buddy (I can see possibly playing with MacKinnon or Marchand). But that’s definitely not in his character. His character is to give back to the city of Pittsburgh and be a Coach/Mentor for the next generation of Pens players.

  22. zivlynsbane

If they trade him, it’ll make all the pens fan angry tbh.

  23. zufhioo

There is always the chance the rangers will give up two number ones at the deadline for Sid, but that’s 3 or 4 years away.

  24. No-Material-23

This is the second year they haven’t made the playoffs, not the third.

Crosby is a tough read because he’s so private, but we know he was pissed with the Guentzel trade, simply by the way he tried to carry the team after the trade.

The only team I can see him go to is Colorado to be with his buddy, but I don’t think he’s chasing a cup at the expense of leaving a legacy in Pittsburgh.

  25. ChangeControll

I think they need to decide if they want to do a rebuild and then give Crosby the choice.

  26. Unable_Finger_224

The pens missed the playoffs twice in two years not thrice in three years. Stopped reading after that. Great writing from an awesome journalist!!!

  27. VonD0OM

I want Sid to go where Sid wants to go, he should not be forced into anything.

    I think he’s earned that.

  28. Direct-Ice2594

Every week new article by Canadian journalist stirring this up. He’s made it clear he wants to stay in Pittsburgh! If he signs extension this summer will they finally stop or keep writing these articles for clicks?

  29. NefCanuck

Crosby only moves if he wants to move, full stop.

Now if Pens management did something *stupid* like offer him league minimum on a contract year?

Sure he’d want to go, but the fans would riot if they did something that stupid 🤷‍♂️

  30. Embarrassed_Weird600

    Canucks legend mark messier
Also as a proper Vancouverite. Fuck messier!

  31. Crownhorse

Can you imagine if he ended up in Vegas? lol. Realistically he’s a one team lifer like Mario, Yzerman and Sakic

  32. Redragontoughstreet

Wow Steve Kouleas had enough time way from spewing Qanon conspiracy theories to talk about hockey again?
    Nature is healing.
