Styles clash it all comes down to who we play, Nashville then Dallas then jets would be a good path to the finals. wouldn't be easy but that's prob the best shot we got. Avs to fast and most likely to win it all. unless mikheyev petey boeser suter lindholm hronek start to step it up in playoffs your really counting on Hughes Miller Demko to win us rounds and that's not enough.
I'm worried. When teams were just playing with skill and freewheeling near the beginning of the season Vancouver dominated. As soon as we reached the playoff intensity part of the season Vancouver has been wilting. I worry they have the skill but not the will and the grit to take a series when it comes down to who wants it the most.
The Canucks have lost 2 straight by 3–1 scores, 1st to the Kings then Stars. Although I didn’t think that this season the Canucks would finally break through and most likely clinch a playoff spot, the bar, because they are almost certain to clinch a playoff spot, has been raised. Last season the Devils and Kraken, after having missed the season before that, each won a playoff series. Whether the Canucks will go at least that far still remains TBD.
I'd agree that Hronek is a 4 or 5 million dollar defenseman experiencing the Quinn Hughes effect. He's never had a year like this before and as soon as he stops playing with Hughes for a prolonged period he looks depressingly average. Get someone on the open market for six and they'll produce too if you put them with Hughes.
They already exceeded my expectations so anything else is gravy from here on out.
I agree with the Lotto Line and move Lindholm to the 2nd line and reunite the 3rd line.
Early in the season metrics were showing that the Canucks were getting a lot of luck and their record exceeded their level of play. As of course tends to happen, luck turns around and I think they’ve been unlucky converting on chances over their last 20 games or so. Hopefully things will settle in the middle and they’ll have enough luck to go along with their impressive depth and developing hard nosed style of play to make a serious run. They are not frauds and not the clear cut favorite either, they are like almost all the other top rated teams this year, teams that have some flaws but capable of winning it all with some breaks.
You can have the most talented players in the world and still have limited success if you keep passing it around the outside. PP not going anywhere if players can't aggressively get into the blue paint… the times Canucks have done well they were doing these things. Best case scenario the Canucks are playing possum right now.
In my opinion, it heavily depends on how we finish the season. 9-9-1 over the last 19, it's been poor. If we head into the playoffs with momentum, with energy, with enthusiasm. We will go far, it's not about the opponent, it's about how we finish, right here, in the home stretch of the regular season. We have to clinch the division, or else I don't see a possibility of us going far, and only a slim chance to make it out of the first round. These remaining games are crucial. Firstly, to clinch the division, and more importantly, build confidence to the playoffs.
Would help if the ref didn't call a penalty with 3 minutes left @nhl if a joke
Just like Anson Carter. His season with the Canucks was product of the Sedins style of play. He was never worth Sedin money. And thats what he wanted.
Edit: now that being said it took a few more years to discover Burrows. I don't want to wait 3 or 4 more years to find a match with Hughes. Hughes contract has aged already. He is worth 12M plus so Hronek is worth the 7 to 8.
No they are not frauds, they are doing great this season. Last year we were garbage, this year we are playoff team. This is more then anyone could have asked for, I don’t understand why people are all pissy they are not winning every single game.
