I'm a Columbus fan and full season ticket holder. In spite of our win tonight, I thought the Avalanche were very impressive. Their speed and quickness is to be reckoned with. Provided they don't run into a hot goalie in the playoffs, I could easily see them in the finals.
Avs typical M.O.. Lose to the worst team, beat the best. Guess it's a good thing the playoffs are a 7-game series. Anyone can beat anyone, at any time, and sometimes puck-luck just isn't in your favor. Puck luck can be a bad rebound, or a deflection, but it can also be that every shot seems to hit something other than the back of the net (the goalie's chest, a defender, your own guy, the butt of the goalie's stick, the post, etc.). That was the Avs issue tonight. They just didn't hit their spots, and when they did, Tarasov was strong. They may have squandered home-ice advantage, so they're not doing themselves any favors. Let's go Avs!
It was not a bad loss. The effort was there, the shots were there, we just couldn’t bury them. That happens sometimes.
