Zero odd man breaks for the Caps. Yet we want to blame the goalie. Haha. It's called defense. It's called young legs. It's called scoring. Blaming goalies and coaching schemes is for simple minds. Fleury loved giving up badly timed cheap goals and those teams easily made the playoffs.
Now you have Ned in net, a winger for Geno in Bunting, and a big bodied responsible defenseman in St. Ivany, they're looking good. Are they gonna win out? Probably not looking at the schedule, but this lineup gives them the best chance.
I live in New Hampshire & have been a Pens fan since i was a kid. I will be attending my 1st Pens gms in the 'Burgh next wk vs the Wings & then Sat. vs the Bruins! (which is my 56th bday). So this is looking a lot more exciting then last wk at this time!

They're making the playoffs now. Of the 3 teams they're competing with for the final spots, they're the only one playing the right way and carrying momentum. Philly has hit the wall and Washington could only muster that effort at home? They remind me of last seasons Penguins. Sad the Pens couldn't get to this point a month ago. If they don't finish out this stretch and make the playoffs now, I'll be more disappointed than I was all season. No reason to quit now. Would be shameful.

Much like with Tomlin and the Steelers, let's not be so quick to praise Sullivan when his stubbornness is what got then Pens in this position. You don't get credit for getting out of a hole when you're the one that lead the digging.

Part of me is more disappointed the better they play with almost no games left. Where was this team all year and how did Sullivan let it get to this point. I hope they make it but if they don’t it really sucks.
I believe this a different team with Ned behind them. St Ives is a miracle

I think the Pens are finally embracing who they are as a group and what they can do with the players they have. They no longer have the legs, youth, and elite skill on offense (except 87) that allowed them to play the super creative offensive game that won them cups. (Trading Jake was the final nail in that coffin). But they are finding they can be competitive staying super solid on D, not pressing and allowing odd man rushes against them, playing more dump and chase, and getting the puck to the net as opposed to looking for the perfect scoring play. Also, Ned has been awesome and St. Ivany has been super solid and a major upgrade over Graves.
