I’m not a coyotes fan, but I hope they stay in Arizona, their fans and organization have been through a lot. Hockey in Arizona definitely could work, especially with a cool new arena.

I root for deal to work. An unconventional market can thrive, as long as ownership cares. I remember when the Tampa Bay Lightning were considered the laughing stock of the league, until people in charge earnestly understood balancing hiring people with savvy understanding of hivkry operations and managing the bottom line.
There's an interesting core there in the Yotes, but need to remove that uncertainty of the team's fate.

Even if they did move to SLC, the NHL would then expand to AZ (granted they get an accessible arena). They’d be crazy not to. It’s a massive market. Arena location is everything. If you’ve ever been to Phoenix, then you get it. When they moved to Phoenix in the 90’s, their first few years were at American Airlines center (downtown) and it was a success. Going to Glendale was absolutely foolish. Ownership problems only compounded it.
If Vegas would’ve put their arena way out of town somewhere and difficult to access, they’d be in the same situation. Florida had this same problem and still does to an extent. They’ve overcome it by recent team success, but I’ve been to numerous games there and it’s bizarre the location of their arena. Not in Miami, Not in Ft. Lauderdale, but an hour away in the swamp practically.
Coyotes get an accessible arena, they’ll be in great shape. BTW, it’s a myth that they couldn’t pay when at Gila River Arena. Reason they left is that Glendale was demanding they sign a 15 year? (More or less, can’t remember) lease agreement. Team refused. If the team isn’t paying their rent, why would Glendale want a multi year lease agreement with them? Makes no sense. Because it isn’t true.
I hope they stay, and I still believe the NHL will announce an expansion team within the next 18 months to start the 33rd Team, maybe in Fall 2026 or Fall 2027 (Salt Lake City) and then Houston and/or Atlanta for Fall 2029. As for team 36 ????
I have a soft spot for the Coyotes as they were the first ever NHL game I’ve been to, so I really hope for the best for the Yotes. However, ANYTHING can happen between now and June. Until that ground breaks, I will stay cautious.

To be honest, I am not a huge hockey fan at all but this is really exciting. I’m like 10 minutes away from it i’m from Arizona so I’m a coyotes fan we are a hockey market. We should get deserve to get the love and respect and hoping someday they’ll be good and win a Stanley Cup but this is huge I’m happy for them go yotes
