i think the problem is if they come into the league and aren’t immediately playing like crosby or mcdavid or bedard they’re immediately labeled a bust by people 💀

I feel this is Lafs first real NHL year.
Quinn and Gallant never trusted him (may have been warranted or not well never know) and kept him bottom 6 pretty much.
Lavi has shown trust in the kid, and i think hes reciprocating that trust so far!

These guys are so good. Anyone who makes the NHL is talented. My disbelief is that at this level there are guys way above in skill level. That bell curve has been proven. 😂
I wouldn’t say he’s a bust, but he’s certainly not the generational talent he was hyped up to be, or being called the next Crosby. Same with Wright
0:50 you are using hindsight when Aaron Ekblad was a grown ass man at 18 years as a RHD. He was the best dman available and the panthers needed defense badly.
1:10 Ekblad as an 18 year old RHD had 39 points in 81 games. He’s 3rd in his draft class for PS and the next closest defenseman to him in PS were picked at 55 (B. Montour) and 108 (Devon Toews)
Took Lafrenière 3 seasons into his career to get 39 points at age 21.
He’s literally the only ranger I like.

I was so annoyed when everybody was calling slaf a bust a 18 give the runner a chance ffs. Now he might have 50 points in a season at 19-20 years old. I don’t know too many players who have done that and im sure he will become so much better and a legit top line power forward.

Slafkovsky has 26 points in his last 28 games; how is he a bust when he just turned 20 a week ago. His 0.93 points/game over the previous 28 games has him virtually tied with Jack Hughes, Jason Robertson, Brady Tkachuk and Alexis Lafreniere in that time frame. Slaf is the top-scoring player in the NHL from the 2022 draft year !!!! HOW IS BEING NUMBER 1 OUT OF 200 drafted players a BUST !!!
Slafkosky is not a bust. He got hurt half way through last season and they shut him down. This year he’s having the best season of anyone from his draft class. He just set a team record for point by a teenager, the Habs have been around for 75+ years, so that ain’t no small feat. Ridiculous comment

Could not agree more, Laf has been improving each year. Not as good as Hughes has improved, but hey you never know what a few more years will bring as he is more robust than Jack.

I think all the pre-draft hype is why he’s “bust.” Canadian media pumped this dude up like crazy then the second he didn’t live up to it he was a bust. More on them than on him. When you look at like Sanderson, Raymond, Stutzle, etc. he probably shouldn’t have been number one tho.

So Patrice Bergeron a six time Selke winner probably the greatest defensive forward of all-time is lousy at defense and so are fellow Selle trophy winners Yzerman, Francis and even 3 time Selke winner Guy Carbonneau all have years of minus in plus minus. As for Gretzky he had 38 goals and won the Art Ross trophy that year. I guess you rather have a 4th line center with a positive +/- over a Mario Lemieux, Mark Messier, Wayne Gretzky or a Joe Sakic. I guess you rather have a Ryan McLeod over Conner McDavid because he’s better defensively. Gretzky defense wasn’t great but offense more than compensated hence Gretzky is the GOAT and even Mario had negative plus/minus like Patrice Bergeron.

I was one to give him sh1t and am happy to eat my words. NY is the toughest market to ne a pro player. He was part of a rebuild that was sped way up bc of Bread and Igor. Finally a coach who empowers the yiung giys instead of bury them. Im hopeful hes on PP1 next yr but who moves to PP2? Mika or Trochek is my guess
