No I believe that they decided he was gonna score 60 goals this year so they just made it happen
He also said in an interview this off season that he talked to mcdavid and told him he needs to start shooting more and get 60 this year. He’s always been capable but he’s a team player and would rather pump up his teams stats rather than his own.
