Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes announced on Tuesday that the team has agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract with forward Florian Xhekaj (2024-25 to 2026-27). Xhekaj also signed a professional tryout offer allowing him to join the Laval Rocket for the remainder of the 2023-24 season. He will meet the team in Cleveland.
Xhekaj, 19, posted 34-31–65 totals in 63 games with the Brantford Bulldogs in the OHL this season, in addition to recording five points in six playoff games.
The 6-foot-4, 190 lb. left winger was selected in the fourth round (101st overall) by the Canadiens in the 2023 NHL Draft.

One goes down, the other gets summoned.

Hopefully Laval manages to squeak into the playoffs, it’d be a great learning experience for all the prospects down there.

Being able to train with your brother who plays at the highest level is going to be a big help.
He could end up in the NHL really quick just because our 3rd and 4th lines are so bad.
Excited to see him play tonight
There must always be a Xhekaj in Montreal (and surrounding area)
He should help with adding sandpaper to the line up in their playoff hunt, and hopefully some offense as well. This should be good for Laval.
Wifi connection reestablished.
Another Bulldogs boy making it to the show. Brantford represent !! Congratulations
Nice happy for the guy worked hard to get there

So … does it mean he’s going to play at Laval next season? I thought he’d going back to OHL next year and then join Laval in 2025-26.
Nevertheless, so glad to see him climb up the ladder. Well deserved.
