Doc deserved a goal the way hes been playi g and going to the net. Bunting had set an example for the rest of the team for net front success. Its awesome. Something to build on even if we dont make the playoffs.
If you are going to go conservative in ot, then use the dragon on defense, not karls and kill time until skate is reafy to go or then throw malkin and bunting when we have possession.

Before I even watch. I’m giving that L to Sullivan. WHY THE HECK do you put Eller, DOC, and Karlsson out in OT to start it?! DOC I’m fine with. I would have at least had Sid with DOC and letang. Obvious choice would have been Rust and Sid. That was beyond ridiculous. But, big getting that 1 point at least in a game we looked dead in the water in for the last 30 mins. We NEED to beat the red wings.
Keep in mind the Pens are 0-5 in OT this season when Crosby is on the ice. The OT they played in Colorado they started with Crosby-Rust-Letang … and Drouin scored before the Pens ever had a single possession. And the last time they actually won in OT it was Eller-Smith-Karlsson on the ice. We can play the "Sullivan should've played …" game all we want, but there are no good options for 3-on-3 on this current roster.
Oh boy, the anxiety grows as the days go on. It’s great to have exciting meaningful hockey, but I honestly would rather have the playoff spot locked up already. Let’s see how things pan out in the next few weeks for the penguins and the opponents.
Bunting has been the winger Geno has needed for a few years now. If the Penguins can somehow get Jake Guentzel back in the offseason, Kyle Dubas will look like a genius for letting Carolina borrow him for a cup run in exchange. Plus, now we're getting to see DOC's potential, and it's been really fun to see.
Correct me if I’m wrong but shouldn’t we all be heavy rooting for the red wings? If wings win in regulation we are 2 points back from them and still play them and we would own the tiebreaker so we would pass them with a reg win on Thursday even if they win tonight. Also Detroit only has 1 way in as the caps have 2 we don’t want as much competition for that metro spot. Unless my math is off it seems like if Philly isles and caps lose later in reg we control our fate
