I forgot ERob was on the team. Him, Jost, and Rousek just kind of exist without any tangible evidence of production

Trade for a top 4 defenceman to pair with Dahlin.

    Pair said defenceman with Dahlin.

    Pairing works amazing.

    Break them up.

    *Shocked Pikachu face*.

This is fucking Skinner with Eichel all over again. Skinner scores 40 with Eichel and gets paid. Next season he falls off a cliff because some idiot broke up the line. Shocker.

  3. I think next year pairs need to be:

    Dahlin-Byram (solid top line)

Power-Sammy (untested pairing, but could work in theory with Power as the offensive d-man, and Sammy as the stay-at-home type)

Bryson-Jokijarju (didn’t like Bryson but he’s really impressed this year; Jokiharju hasn’t worked well with Byram but was doing well before that)

Keep Clifton as the 7th guy (or trade him if we sign a younger defenseman)

Maybe Byram just isn’t that good….? Dudes looked pretty lost since his hot start. I wouldn’t have him on the first pair still either honestly.

    I prefer Clifton to Joker.

It’s a shame that both our natural RHD are really tweener 2nd and 3rd pair guys. I’d prefer Sammy and Clifton on the 3rd pair. Real defensively strong pairing to put out there for PK. I think Joker is surplus to requirements, especially with Ryan Johnson in Rochacha.

This is why fans are **starting** to lose confidence in Granato,
with decisions like this. Buffalo finally had a top pairing but for
whatever reason, Granato broke it up and it’s backfired ever since,
specifically for Byram. Ever since he got paired with Jokiharju, he has
not looked like the player when he first came to the Sabres.

Starting???? We lost confidence in him a long time ago.

The vibes on the sabres bench are terrible 90% of the time

Byram was struggling before they got broken up. Granato is in desperation mode because he is feeling the heat and put his two best defenseman together in hopes that positive will outweigh having a hell line for the second pair. 26/25 pair is doing a lot, but the other lines are so bad It’s ending up a wash.

Can this guy get fired already holy crap

« For whatever reason though, Sabres head coach Don Granato split the two up. »

The reason is that since the arrival of Byram, Dahlin is better with both Jokiharu and Power than he is with Byram.

Why do op, the author of this article and so many people in this thread want these two paired together even though Byram is a drag on Dahlin?

How’s that Mittelstadt trade working out?

  12. Choose one:
    1. Put your two best defenseman together. The rest of your lines are being caved in.
    2. Split your two best defenseman. Their lines are now individually worse.

There is no way to win with a forward corps that largely does not play 200ft.

Donny reminds me of a farmer whose crops are burning down, but he just stares at them because he doesn’t know what to do about them
