I was one of those fans who wanted them to tear it down last summer. But once they were winning and pretty much had a lock on 3rd place in the Metro, I conceded to enjoy the ride and the playoffs in the spring.
The Flyers ended up now doing the worst thing they could have done. They got everyone on board with a rebuild last summer, made a playoff run, collapsed and now we don’t even get a top 5 pick.
I actually think they regressed from a big picture perspective. We lost Hart, so our goaltending situation is up in the air. We traded top prospect Gauthier for an injury proned Drysdale who was a -6 last night. We don’t know how the Head Coaching situation will play out in the offseason.
Which gets to my point they should have tore it down last year. Can they sell to the fans that next year is the REAL start of the rebuild as they start a complete turnover of the roster?
All I have wanted from the Flyers in the past decade is a GM that is taking the team in a specific direction as I understand you don’t rebuild overnight. The problem is we take one step forward and 2 steps back like we did this year, and during the Fletcher years, and during the Hextall years.

Bill is too hype and wrong. Don't make PHLY into WIP. I tried to make it through the whole thing but he just yells about the last ten games totally ignoring everything that has happened. We traded away a defender, went to an AHL and retiree defense, played 11-7 for months, lost our starting goalie, brought in a goalie from Russia and immediately put him in. Like get some perspective and stop screaming in to a microphone!

Charlie keeps saying acquire through trade. Trade what? They have nothing of value to trade except Konecny…. Which is Bills point. None of the other 22+ players is getting you anywhere close to a talent good enough to improve this team no matter how you bundle them with picks. You think Farabee and a 2nd is getting you a 25 year old 35G 45A player? No team in their right mind is trading those players, you have to draft them or acquire them before they are stars.

They NEED to lose out and hopefully land a star like possibly Tij Inginla or 1% win the lottery and move up 10 spots from 11 or better to get Celebrini… But you know them, they will win games when you don't want them to case in point being the first 70 games of this season !!! And second, they NEED to get rid of TORTS!!! They need a players coach who has the skill & patience to develop young players not a hardened, stubborn old school coach who will burn them out while supposedly teaching them how to play right!!! No matter what, he will never gain 100% of any locker room and for that reason alone he is not the right coach for a rebuilding team!!!
