I’m willing to give Samsonov a pass because he’s been so good for the last 3 months but also, woooof.
Sammy had a stinker of a game but he’s been so good lately I can let that slide. Matty got 2 and that’s what matters.

Sammy was horrible, but Marner and Nylander sucked too, as well as pretty much all our D.

Every game we’ve lost in the last month can easily be attributed to the pathetic power play. They should expect a quick exit if the keep the status quo. Pathetic goaltending but just inexcusable power play, not okay.
Aside from the obvious the powerplay needs something to change before the playoffs.
If we don’t win the puck to Matthews we got nothing.
I think they gotta go back to Bertuzzi infront of the net.

This sub is probably going to blow up with Samsanov criticisms and rightfully so, this game is entirely on him. He has played great though and even the best goalies give out stinkers every now and again. Keefe should have pulled after 4.

I’m not upset we lost tonight. Teams have bad games, I’m glad they got it out of the system.
What I’m optimistic about is they didn’t look deflated or dejected when Sammy didn’t do well or Jersey answers. Before this team just folded like a soggy cold taco. Tonight I saw the fight, and that’s what matters to me.
Sammy had one bad game in a streak of good ones. All goalies have bad games. He’ll sleep it off.

Why didn’t we pull Samsonov after 3? I’ve seen that a million times before from the OTHER team and they come back to beat us. It’s almost never because the goalie was bad, it’s just to get a new look and mix it up. We have 3 goalies and don’t play tomorrow…figured it was worth a shot.
Nylander couldn’t buy one tonight unfortunately
I love that this sub looks at every game in a vacuum and ignores how good Sammy has been. One stinker of a game isn’t the end of the world and neither is potentially losing home ice. They have been better on the road anyway.
This powerplay is fucking growing mold. Its awful. Stagnant. Actually mindblowing.
Gonna sound bad but this is a good outcome. Matthews gets two goals, and we’re now probably out of contention for getting home ice advance.
I don’t really want us to have home ice advantage. I want us to go into the series thinking we’re underdogs. We play better away, anyways.
