Don't play Matthews for the Panthers game, but play him for the Lightning game so he can get his 70 goals. I don't think the lightning will be out to injure Matthews the way the Panthers would be.
Rest him. Period.
mathews cant just cant play against the panthers, if they want to try for 70 one more time its gotta be against tampa and the second it happens get him the hell off the ice and into the press box!

Like Keefe said though… Got injuries.. Salary Cap.. Basically saying they might have to play him.. Atleast in 1 out of 2.. They could give Willy/JT a rest and swap in Gregor/Dewar.. McMann is out of the lineup potentially too right? And then against Tampa you rest Matthews and Marner? What more can you really do? They're not gonna be able to rest the core 4 both games…
They need to stay the hell out of the box and Samsonov needs to have a couple of those. Robertson looked great. Where was Bertuzzi? He scored twice last game… I don't think his name was mentioned in the highlights. That was kinda disappointing. Yell away Stevo. I'm not a leafs fan. On one hand it's crazy to imagine Matthews getting injured against the Panthers in Game 81.
But also if you're scared to play him in 1 game against the Panthers what does it say about him playing in a 7-game series against Florida.

That being said, SAMMY!! Jesus man.. He sucks so bad. Crouched any closer to the ice and you will be eatting it. We don't get our goaltending straightened out…we are done before it ever begins. What ever happened to the goalies that play big in the net? I dunno steve… I dunno what to think here..

Nylander has all but disappeared the last 10 games. He actually looks like a 3 rd liner now and is not even our best one which is probably Robertson right now.

As a wings fan who may contest the severity of the board, I will say that the referees didn't even call two minutes on a high stick play that broke a player's cheek bone just a few days ago. However you feel about this one specifically, the refs seem to be starting the "let 'em play" playoff hockey style of officiating a few games early on all fronts.
