  1. One thing thats being missed about the new arena, is that even though it's technically in Phoenix proper, it's so far on the outskirts that its actually further away from downtown Phoenix than the Glendale arena. So if being far away was Glendale's problem, the new arena is solving nothing.

  2. As a Leaf fan “do you want to drive an hour, hour and a half to see your team play” cited as an major issue is hilarious to me, even though I believe the point is 100% valid.

  3. Steve probably hasn't spent much time in America. Billionaires all sale snake oil with lies and deception. It's common practice to achieve success here.

  4. I hope Murelo, just takes his Billion dollars and we never hear from him again. And a new owner with deep pockets, builds an arena, and Arizona gets an expansion franchise.

  5. If your going to bring the Arizona Coyotes to Utah, Be sure to bring the PACK to Utah, name is perfect for Salt Lake City, Jazz relocated from New Orleans kept their name. If the NHL brings back team in Arizona and bring back Yotes by expansion, the only appropriate name to replace Coyotes would be Wolves, or even Wolfpack. Coyotes had best catch slogans for team ( OUR PACK, Scratchin and Clawing, Howl-o-Ween, Howl-a-days, five for howling) nothing else can replace this and my sincere and heartfelt message to Mr. Ryan Smith, Smith Entertainment Co. and everyone living in or near Wasatch Front who wants hockey team, you have a chance to have something very special don’t want you to throw away very, very good name. Any other name would be downgrade. So many teams moved and retained their brands, I implore you to read this message I live in Illinois been fan of this team for about 15 years it’s been very hard, I want to continue to support this team but they must retain name or I’ll no longer support NHL, I will follow AHL hockey, they have our local Chicago Wolves, and Hartford Wolfpack.😢😢😢😢😢😢😢

  6. the league tried everything under the sun to keep coyotes in AZ this has been going on since former owner bk , league taking overm 1 owner lasting a couple years , now this douchebag loser for the last 5 or so, the league did its part, the , owners let us down, the league didnt stiff hotels or tax men, this owner did, i will always love hockey and the nhl is the best form of this sport, i would welcome a solid owner with a solid arena anytime. AM can go PHuck himself, he was the liar…..

  7. As an Avs fan our team is more like the Colorado/Wyoming/Montana/Nebraska Avalanche. I just don't get how the arena being in Glendale was their downfall, do their fans only reside in Phoenix and Tempe.

  8. “glendale is an hour and a half from thier fan base”

there’s more than a million people in the west valley.

this false assessment that the “fan base” is in some way tied to any particular area of the phoenix area is a joke. the “fan base” is Scottsdale… they say… because that is where the wealth is…. there however has never been a demonstration they the people of Scottsdale are at all interested in hockey,… none. Golf? yes… hockey? no. and no evidence they ever have been.

even then, the proposed new location is almost as far away from downtown phoenix as Glendale. and is still 35-40 min away from downtown Scottsdale.

  9. Talk about child like Ego in Bettman. 30 years of failure with that team, all under his guidance.

Think of the families…..Steve…..from one Steve to another….they are millionaires so get the f of your stupid stick. I am sure they can cry about it into their piles of money for playing a kids game in front of drunks and drug addicts with money to much money to throw away.

    People are dumb

  10. the NHL is the worst league in north america by a mile. great sport but just absolute garbage league managment, playoffs refs are bound to make us more mad next week and they give Meruelo so many chances when he doesn't deserve any. moved a team on short notice after they said a week before they were going to build a arena.
    fire bettman.

  11. The only way arizona works back there is if there’s is another group that takes it. This is just sad and I feel for the yotes fans!

  12. It’s been tough to be a fan of this team when so many empty promises were not made, I’ve been to Gila River arena before they moved to the Mullet. I can definitely attest that traffic going there was atrocious and they badly needed a new arena elsewhere, then they would downgrade to a even smaller arena…I still cheered for this team, but as the years went on it made it harder & harder to. I still stand behind the team despite all the chaos and drama but I also understand why this isn’t a business formula that can work and I am sad to see them move. I believe this team is going to be a contender as soon as next year and unfortunately it seems it won’t be in AZ…

  13. These guys are idiots. Muerello just got a massive bailout by getting the league to give him $1B for a team that’s probably worth half that amount. You think he’s going to pay the $2B expansion fee AND front the money to build a new arena by himself? He’s done. He got lucky with how this ended and now he’s out

  14. We know they lied and fed us full of crap, we aren’t blaming “you guys”. Meruelo won’t get any of my money ever if I can help it

  15. Yeah, imagine being the social media manager or whatever, who will lose their job soon anyway when the teams moves, and having to keep posting "Hey guys, how's "Phoneix Coyotes" sound?? Nice ring to it eh??"

  16. Against expansion in general but absolutely against giving the current ownership group in AZ another team. They don't even pay their bills.

  17. With all respect, the notion the Coyotes would leave after nearly 30 years of instability with different owners (including the NHL itself) and different arenas (and not even selling out the 5000 seat arena), only to turn around and come right back is ridiculous. AZ is not Minnesota; one simply cannot reasonably believe AZ would suddenly support the team long term because of yet another arena. And to allow them to return via forced expansion?!? The NHL needs stabilization right now, not expansion.
