So are we going with the angel robot from Winnipeg?

  2. DarkKirby14

need to win and hope the Flyers take a point off the Caps

  3. ImthaDatsyukian

Shout out to the fans yesterday for still cheering and being loud even after being down 4-1.

    Hockeytown is back baby. LGRW

Now isn’t the time to reflect.  You’re still in the hunt.  Doesn’t matter what anyone else does, you have a job to do and that is to win.

Stay hungry.  Shoot for rebounds and crash.  You guys are a better team and every shift matters.

  5. jcoal19

I wouldn’t mind if the Wings just blew them out today. I’m not sure I can take another overtime game.

Calling all canadian wings fans. Meet at the Bell Centre tn. Bring octopi

  7. trey25624

If we make the playoffs….I’m not sure I can handle it.

  8. ChucklesLeClown

DeBrincat with 3 goals, 7 points in the last 3 games. Dude’s showing up

  9. Prudent_Shame_4531

No matter what happens… what a fucking season. A rollercoaster until the very end, with amazing glimpses into what this team can be. Two really important things became apparent:

    1) Larkin is a true 1C, and people are going to stop doubting it.
    2) The Red Wings DO have a superstar forward, and his name is Lucas Raymond.

  10. FadeShadeMan

Games like this are for captains. Larkin hat trick my prediction

  11. Danengel32

Not sure who’s starting for Washington yet, but I’m not sure if I’d prefer Lindgren on a back to back or a fresh Kuemper. Leaning towards wanting Kuemper because lots of goalies don’t actually mind back to backs

  12. AlmostSunnyinSeattle

Why are the Caps ahead of us? We have a higher winning percentage, more Ws and more ROWs. Perhaps they have more Regulation Ws without looking it up, but that’s the 2nd tie-breaker behind W%

  13. culturedrobot

There’s a portion of the anti-Lalonde contingent on this sub who say they want anyone else but haven’t done a very good job at hiding that they really just want Torts. Let’s see if he can will his mid roster to a win when it matters most. LGRW! Let’s go Philly!

  14. HercHuntsdirty

Here’s a few big names that Raymond has more points than:
    – Scheifele
    – Stutzle
    – Zibanejad
    – Kopitar
    – Marchand

I’ve played Defense all my life so I want to take a moment to recognize the keep-in by Ghost. That was so epic, so clutch and SEASON saving. The effort, the leap, the ability to immediately make an impact play as soon as he landed was awesome.

In all my years playing, that opportunity happened to me only once. It was my « keep-in-of-a-lifetime » that only I probably remember so I just want to take a moment so we can all appreciate what that really was. Years from now, if we don’t make the playoffs, Ghost, nobody will remember this…. but I will!

(Kinda like that Austin Jackson catch during Armando Gallaraga’s perfect game that wasn’t. It would be in Detroit sports lore if it was a perfect game, now it’s not even an afterthought.)

Last night was an amazing game to be at!!! When Raymond tied it up late the arena went nuts!!! LGRW

Who else is nursing an accidental hangover at work this morning? Started drinking in the third and accidentally drank about 8 beers before the end of the press conferences.

Told my sister I’d shotgun a beer if we made it to OT. Kept my word. When we won, I went out and shotgunned two more. Much to the delight of the college kids renting the house behind mine.

  18. 72athansiou

They played the herb brooks Great moments are born from great opportunities on the screen yesterday before OT

Raymond is that guy and I’d bet my bottom dollar be continues to be

Nerves are getting me today lol

So what needs to happen for us to make the playoffs now? Since the Bruins threw last night away

  21. MoldyMerkin

A DeBrincat hatty tonight would give us three 30+ goal scorers on the season. Make it happen.

  22. elvishblood_24

Real talk our depth scoring needs to figure it out ASAP

  23. Substantial_Ad_2864

Looking at moneypuck’s playoff odds it says our odds are just slightly better if we win in OT vs win in regulation. In terms of tiebreakers it makes no difference, but I wonder why it thinks that.

  24. culturedrobot

You gotta think that Philly can win tonight if they show up with any intensity at all. Caps just played last night and Philly is rested. Philly should be just as hungry as the Caps are, because they know they need that win in regulation and then they beat the Caps in the standings. They’re also playing in the house that Gritty built. Never gonna get a better chance than this to JUST WIN so deliver unto us a filthy Caps regulation loss, O hallowed Saint Torts.

  25. kingoftheplastics

Don’t worry about what anyone else might or might not do. We need to put ourselves in the position first which means getting and staying aggressive all night, putting quality pucks on net, keeping Kane Larkin Raymond and Cat well supplied and keeping our zone locked down. Taking nothing away from last night’s win there is zero reason they should’ve been able to hang 4 on us on home ice. Need to be better on the back end tonight and going forward if we do indeed get to go forward.

  26. Prudent_Shame_4531

Lalonde’s comment last night was spot on – he basically said that these big season moments spark growth in players, and that’s what we’re seeing in Raymond. Whether we make the playoffs or not, the impact of this run will be felt for a while.

Max Bultman also had an article this morning that was a good read, and he quoted Kane talking about Raymond: “When you realize your abilities, you can understand you can start taking over games, right? And I think we’re seeing him at that point right now.” Must be a huge confidence booster for Raymond to hear one of the greats talking about him like that too.

  27. elvishblood_24

Steve Dangle is so fucking cringey

  28. FDTFACTTWNY

Win today and I’ll be happy with the season regardless of the outcome of Philly and Washington.

We obviously should be in a better position with where we were in February, however at the beginning of the season I said I want to be playing meaningful games at the end of the year and doesn’t get more meaningful than these 2.

Part of being a middling team is understanding that there will be high highs and and low lows. It’s unfortunate that they came the way they did but that’s the reality of our team right now.

A loss tonight would be quite disappointing however.

  29. Reasonable_Gene1719

Caps played against an effortless bruins team last night. Tonight will not be the same-Torts most definitely will have his boys playing the if we can’t get in, they’re not getting in either mentality. I believe Flyers get it done. LGRW!

  30. woody-39

Is it a coincidence that when ras went down last year we lost our game and the same thing has somewhat happened this year? I think it really goes to show how much ras has grown as a two way player, he’s an asset to the team

  31. GoodBloke86

as much as winning tonight is important, so is jumping to an early lead. creates a psychological factor in the caps game

  32. AffectionateMrPink

Win or lose it’s a been fun and playing meaningful games late has had an impact on the future of this team. We just keep getting better with Stevie in charge and I expect them to continue that next year. Go Wings

  33. whacafan

Such a frustrating yet fun season. Down to one game and we need the Caps, who just KEEP FUCKING WINNING, to lose. I mean, playing them TWICE and losing both recently is just such a killer. Then you have these last two games where both we were up by a lot and let them come back. I feel like we should already be in the playoffs the way a lot of the season went. There’s a lot to look forward to but it never should’ve come down to this.

After we beat COL in OT I basically decided we were making the playoffs this season – especially once we had that big gap. Even after we fell apart I remained confident because I had already convinced myself we were going to the playoffs. With all the stress of the last week or two – and even last night – somehow I remained calm because it’s all gonna work out. Now it’s all down to tonight. Still feeling confident.

  36. VHDLEngineer

After a show of good faith by Montreal in getting us half of the agreed upon four points last night, I’m proposing we increase our offer to 3G for Caulfield, 2A for Suzuki and Hutson, and a goal and an assist for Slafkovsky in a 6-4 Red Wings win.
