Slaf gets 50 points, Hutson and Mailloux get points in their debuts, Newhook sets his new career high even with missed time to injury, Caufield goes into the offseason with a nice late-season hot streak… these last few games have been a fantastic end to a fun season. Something poetic about ending with back-to-back loser points too!

Great year, really enjoyed myself in almost every game. Can’t wait for October!

  2. RoboticAnatomy

It’s been another awesome year watching, and talking hockey with all of you fine folks!

Lots of ups and downs this year, but a *lot* of positives for a *very* young team. I can’t list them all here.

From the continued 200-foot development of Suzuki, all-around offensive rounding from Caufield ^(his goals will come, don’t worry), as well as the emergence, rapid development, and dominance of our Slovakian Stallion, all filling out an outright dangerous top-line that will no doubt be one of the best lines in the NHL in short order, and for the long-term.

We led the NHL in one-goal games this year (42? 43?), It’s not hard to imagine that another offseason of training for our top-line, as well as the return of Dach, possible full-time additions of Hutson, Mailloux and/or Reinbacher, possible addition of our 1st round pick this year, and continued development and chemistry of the rest of the lineup, will see us be a very scary team very shortly.

I don’t see a world where we aren’t challenging for a playoff spot next year (famous last words), barring *injuries* ^(^(fuck injuries))

We have a crazy deep D-pool that should encourage lots of competition through development camp + training camp, some crazy promising goalie prospects, as well as two first rounders this draft!

I’ll still be here everyday, of course, but we’ll see all you glorious bastards at the draft lottery!

    I hope you’ll all join me in saying;

    FUCK THE LEAFS!

    FUCK THE BRUINS!

    FUCK THE LIGHTNING!

    FUCK THE WINGS!

    FUCK INJURIES!

    FUCK THE REFS!

    and finally

    GO HABS GOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

    Edit: FUCK MATTHEWS!

    FUCK KREIDER!

    FUCK KUCHEROV!

    FUCK MARCHAND!

  3. what a fun final few weeks of the season

the future is fucking bright, so bright

  4. Dexteris

Last PGT and what a good one.

Suzuki, Caufield and Slakovsky are magic

Slafkovsky ending with 50 points… I have absolutely no words.

Newhook and Roy were showing great potential.

*Hutson greatness will only be limited by the qualities of his teammates, he is insane. He has, in his first two games, shown that his dekes can give him the time to create plays like he was in the NCAA.*

    The future is bright.

Have a good summer guys! GO HABS GO!

  5. Longshanks123

lol Hutson and Slaf’s heads can’t fit into the camera frame together

  6. fortytwoanswers

It’s been a wonderful season, friends! Love to see Slaf get to 50 pts and 20g, first line did its thing and established itself as a true top line in this league, Hutson is the truth, and we’re guaranteed to have the opportunity to pick up a forward with top-6 potential in the draft. The future is absolutely very bright!

I’ve been solidly and proudly on team tank over the past few seasons, but I’m so excited for next year. May this year be my last year being happy with losses. Onwards to the draft!

  7. patpitpout

Can the 2024-25 season start already?

  8. RoboticAnatomy

Awesome debut for Mailloux. Him and Hutson both getting on in overtime is huge!

  9. GuneRlorius

20 + 30 for Slaf, I couldn’t be happier. It was a good season cheering alongside you guys.

  10. RoboticAnatomy

50 points for slaf!!!! LETS GOOOO!

Who would’ve seen that coming after his start to the season?!

  11. MaulyMac14

Wings didn’t feel like hitting the Griddy? See you on the golf course.

Come on Arizona, give us a happy ending.

  12. Beefiest_bison

I’m an avid tankologist, and even I was jumping up and down when Slaf got his 20th off a trademark Lane Hutson blueline play.

Looking forward to watching them play for years to come.

  13. Goodnight friendos, see ya at the draft.

Edit: fuck the Canes, the Dolts and the Queefs. That’s all I care about in the playoffs.

Rags and Bruins are in tier 2 of get fucked for me. The first 3 are by far the worst and I wish them absolute misery.

  14. crissdecaliss

    Habs hockey is over ):

Hutson, the first line, healthy Dach, Guhle and Xhekaj. Can’t wait for next year!

  15. Pitiful_Stock_4329

So we need Arizona to pickup a point tmr right?

  16. Nobodylovesboston

We making the playoffs next year

  17. Puccimane

The future is looking very bright and boney. I’ll see you all next year (I’ll be posting every day)

  18. Pitiful_Stock_4329

Seeing the redwings celebrate every goal like crazy, and then not even make it after winning is hilarious

  19. LightsaberCrayon

Game should have been over when #57 didn’t skate for that icing with 3 seconds left. But whatever, Slaf got 20, Mailloux and Hutson got assists, I’m happy.

  20. SeaofSpace11

All in all great season developmentally for our core, Suzuki hitting another level, Cole rounding out his game wonderfully and Slaf hitting 20 goals and 50 points is amazing. That play by Lane on the tying goal was a thing of beauty and is a sign of things to come, the guy has superstar written all over him. However very disappointed with our ability to hold leads in the third, getting into maple leafs territory with that bs!

  21. Habs_Apostle

Well, that’s that. We have to be better next year right? Very excited for the young players we have and for those coming up. Hutson starts with the big club? He looked great out there!

    Happy offseason everyone!

  22. JacP123

Why do I feel the Habs ended that game happier than the Red Wings did lmao

  23. douce_abeille

Let’s restart that next year. Playing meaningful games right until the end would be so exciting! It should be fun

    See you guys next year

  24. bcgrappler

It’s the last game and we were led by nick, cole, slaf, newhook, hutson amd mailloux.

Primeau looked solid, and gally and armia found out they can still play hockey.

Hard season, but we have a top line, our d prospects look great, matheson is a monster, primeau is an nhler, newhook trade looks good, and we still end up with a very good draft pick.

    Until next year.

  25. JourneyToArcana

Anyone else mad that we’re gonna get the Capitals in the playoffs instead of the Red Wings? I wanted Detroit to beat their playoff drought just to make them less desperate next year, and they’re much more fun to watch than Washington.

  26. ukrainianhab

    *BAD*

    – Primeau didn’t have a good game. He’s been good since Allen left so it’s alright. Going forward I’d like to see him be consistently good rather than occasionally great. Consistency.

    – I mean obviously you have to keep the leads. It’s been an issue all year but then again it’s obvious. A team near the bottom will have that issue.

    – I want Habs to be in the playoffs. I miss that stuff.

    – Shot selection.

    – Power play. Seems the 4 on 3 in particular has been bad for years I don’t have a stat for that but seems that way.

    *GOOD*

    – Slaf hits 20. Don’t really need to elaborate on the success he has had this year. An absolute massive w for the Habs having him progress throughout the year. Get him in fantasy next year these stats are going to go up.

    – Hutson to me looks excellent. There were people out there that went all well that game won’t translate to the show… whatever can have that opinion and Hab fans do over rate prospects but really what I like is his skills are not really something you can teach. The vision combined with the passing screams a player who is going to have a huge ceiling. I may add the Norris candidates are not exactly your 6’5 David Savard shot blockers.

    – Newhook if he gets some better linemates might have bigger potential than we give him credit for. At the very least, he def fits that middle six.

    – Caufield absolute heater to end the year.

    – Mailloux good debut. Got an apple to I believe.

  27. GiantWaterBottle

It was my first full year as a Canadiens fan, and I’m so excited for the future of this team. I love this team, I love the players, I love the fans. You’re all incredible. Allez Montréal! See you all next season <3

  28. sex_panther_by_odeon

This game show that we looking really good on defense.

    – We need a better goalie (we may have that in the pipeline). I think they are respectable but not really playoff goalies.
    – We need more offense. We need 2 more top 6 players. That I don’t think we have in the system.

  29. ItsGaryMFOak

Next up May 6th, when we win the lottery and start watching Cellebrini highlights

  30. RavenElite

What a fun season everyone! Can’t wait to see the next one. See you all on draft day!

  31. BillyShears19

Welp, Detroit made these last two games fun

  32. DivinePotatoe

Lane is gonna be a problem for the league and i’m here for it.

  33. ResponsibilityKey189

Love this team. I’m the most optimistic for real contender potential in the medium term I’ve ever felt.

If Kent Hughes can find a way to unload Pearson and Anderson’s contracts (I love you powerhorse but I’m sorry) over the offseason and clear up some space for players like Roy, Beck, or Mesar next season, we’re in fine shape for some really fun hockey.

  34. Bloodraven23

Remember when TSN or Sportsnet projected Slaf to score 55 pts this year? Not bad guess.

  35. Longshanks123

It’s only two games, but if that’s the real Lane Hutson … how do you send him to Laval next year? No question he’s better than Barron and Harris already.

Yeah he’s got a lot to learn but so did Slaf

  36. Next season Joshua Roy is still technically a rookie. Full season with talented linemates = Calder candidate.

  37. Seb_Nation

Please God, make Arizona get a point tomorrow.

  38. dillybomb420

When I suddenly remember sometime mid July that Slaf had 50 and Hutson is a PPG player.

    ![gif](giphy|CIphqnhK1Q760)

  39. Digital_Dawn90

On se revoit au repêchage les chums!

  40. ignitek

I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited for an offseason. Cannot wait for training camp to start and see what happens this summer. Hopefully the playoffs provides some great entertainment to make time go a bit faster.

  41. Pitiful_Stock_4329

Brutal season ends for Anderson, I wonder what we do with him? I would hope that we don’t have him and Gallagher in the top nine next year.

  42. lacoupe25

Very solid debut by Mailloux. I think he’s a lock to start next season with Habs.

  43. 3oysters

I am so excited for next season.

Really feel like Slaf is going to explode. He’s been incredible for a kid so young and he’ll be an absolute force of nature as he gets his man strength.

Suzuki has really shone now that he has two 1st line calibre linemates. Caufield has really rounded out his game and his shoulder seems to be fully healed.

Hutson is unreal. I can’t wait to see how he fits into the system with an offseason to prepare. He is as advertised.

Mailloux looked solid in his first outing. Strong in 1v1 battles, solid outlet passes, very poised.

Jake fucking Evans man. I’m honestly willing to overpay a touch if it’s what is needed to keep him around. He is an absolute stud in the bottom 6. Looks like he’s really taken to Marty as a coach and has been working hard to create scoring chances. His linemates, however, are not great at burying those chances.

Newhook was a great acquisition, I’ve really enjoyed his game. Gally, Newhook, Armia would be a solid 3rd line. Though we’re running out of options on the 2nd line if we delegate him to that role.

Roy was looking solid before his injury, as well. Really wish we had more time to watch him play this season.

Idk, I’m very happy with the progress here. Next year’s training camp is going to be very interesting, should be a tight competition for those 6 defensive spots. I’d be surprised if we didn’t see a few trades before then to clear things up a little. At least 3 top 6 pieces are covered, and we have a functional first line. Praying Dach picks up where he left off and stays healthy, because he was looking to be the solution at 2C.

Draft is going to be juicy. Some of these defenders are hard to pass up on but there is some very good top 6 talent mixed in their as well. My wet dream is to somehow trade into the top 10 again and just start blasting.

  44. ResponsibilityKey189

worth noting that both hutson and dach finished the season at a ppg pace 👀

  45. whogivesashirtdotca

Hutson on the crowd cheering when he had the puck: « I kinda feed off that. It’s really cool. They’re some smart fans who know something could happen. »

  46. YellowSubreddit8

This team is the most interesting edition in 25 years. No more spending most of the period in our end capitalizing on few breakaways from being always attacked. No disrespect for the good goalies we had but it’s way more interesting this way.

This team is amazing. Feel like the Nordiques during rebuild before they won a cup as the Avalanche. Reminds me of Sakic, Nolan,Sundin, Ricci.
