This is what we need in Seattle, I have several friends that would watch Kraken games if it were easier to watch.

Seems like a great way to build the fan base

Sounds like Kraken leaving Root, one can hope they start doing their own thing, even if not free anything is better

And we’re stuck with ROOT. The Kraken brain trust is not as smart as we might have expected. What a stupid way to build a new fan base. I hope the rumors are true and the Kraken are dropping ROOT.

What OTA channel would have the capacity (considering network primetime shows) to play Kraken games? Only example I could think of is Joe TV but even they don’t have the best reach since I remember struggling to find Sounders games there the year or two before the Apple deal.
Don’t believe Scripps has a Seattle affiliate too.
EDIT: maybe Seattle 11?

Not at all surprised. Both Vegas and Arizona adopted this model last season.
Something to think about – Scripps, the owner of the Utah channel in question here, also own a channel in Seattle + one in Portland.

And that’s how you build a fan base!

That’s a smart strategy. I think the NHL will do well there.

Yes this is how you build a fan base. That the kraken put theirs behind a premium cable subscription from the jump was so stupid. It’s especially stupid in a league where the tv deals aren’t even that lucrative.

It would be swell if the Kraken changed to a tv station we get up north. Like 1/3rd of the basic cable package are Seattle channels anyway.

I detailed in a post last summer how the Kraken could do the same https://www.reddit.com/r/SeattleKraken/comments/139ue0x/heres_how_the_kraken_could_follow_the_golden/
