I see what your saying about the expansion teams and I agree with that for the most part but the expansion capitals are an exception. The 1974-75 capitals in my opinion are such a historically bad team in every way that there’s literally no way you can argue that they’re not the worst team. I understand that they didn’t have high hopes to begin with but what other team goes 1-39 away, lose 12-1 twice, have one of their defensemen record a -82 plus/minus rating, and have their best goalie record all 8 wins holding a 5.45 GAA. Ron low wasn’t even a bad goalie either as he had a decently long career but the team was just that bad

It's a very unique season and the east division is arguably the strongest.
While they are awful, I think it’s more of a product of the division they’re in.

By points percentage, the worst NHL team is the 74-75 Caps with just 13.1% of total points earned.They were an expansion team and Buffalo is not. However, the season isn't over so Buffalo has a chance to still improve themselves.

I'd like an analysis of WHY they're so bad. They look like they can put together some scoring lines and they have a not horrible defense. Why can't they score? Why are they so awful?
The thing with Buffalo, that franchise hasn’t had any success in like 10 years, I’d say as a whole their lifetime has been underwhelming, with really good teams that couldn’t get the win, no cups to speak of, no finals appearances since 99 and only 2 appearances in total. There’s no fun in watching them be this bad like there might be a Red Wings who were so good for 20ish years straight. It just feels bad to see it, they have the tools to win, but it just all falls apart. I just feel bad for the fans at this point, they’re extremely loyal and they shouldn’t have that loyalty repaid with the absolute garbage on the ice.
Their agony is also arguably owed to the fact of playing in the toughest Division in the League.
2020 Red Wings were worse, it hurts the Sabres due to the fact that the wort team they play is New Jersey and is generally in a extremely tough division. Not to mention Jack Eichel is out.
I've been alive for almost 5 decades of hockey….This Sabres team is NOT the worst in NHL history. They are the LAZIEST, least hard working, least confident team I've seen. Oh but they do have the one of the worst OWNERS…and that there accounts for the Sabres dumpster fire.

I'm sure my Caps still hold the record for worst ever season. 1975 they went 8-67-5 for 21 points. Ouch. That's a 0.131 win percentage.

no I have seen like 10 teams in NHL history way worse than this team but to be fair to those teams? the Capitals, Scouts/Rockies etc etc they did not have the luxury of all our 1st rounders either..I seen that 1974-75 Capitals and we will never see a team that bad ever again..but this is the worst run team in the NHL in this era? 100% yes..this team rivals the Harold Ballard era in Toronto from 1972-90..been a Sabres fan since the 1972-73 season, I have never ever seen it like this..pretty sad actually 😑
Get players like Dahlin, Reinhart, Eichel and Cozens out of there so they can actually have fun and win while playing hockey

I don't see how they expect to fix the things that are going wrong with the Buffalo Sabres when they didn't get a Seasoned Coach that can win at the moment they fired Ralph Kruger. The whole purpose of Firing him, as I'm sure you will agree, is to see if Eric Staal, and the rest of that team that is Great On Paper could've been Great On The Ice. To put in Interim Head Coach Granato, whom I have nothing against and don't know, if other than he's the Brother of NYR Former Hockey Player Tony Granato – if anything else, and then trade all of the On Paper Star Players away defeats the purpose, since it is an To The Other Extreme act, in that the Ralph Kruger Firing was a Bad Move if these players can't win with Any Coach. If they were to bring in the Often-Mentioned Gerard Galant, and they continued to lose, then, it's The Players, or, if they got rid of all of The Players, with Kruger as the Coach, and, won, then you can say it's The Players. This Logically Flows. The Firing of The Coach and getting rid of The Players leave you with Which Is It? Or, Is It Both Or Neither? This is the only Logical Flow. Therefore, it's not an unlikely inference, given all of this is the one that both Fans and Non-Fans have, that the Ownership is the problem. If anyone disagrees, please tell me why I'm wrong.

Kinda funny that i ended up watching this right after playing franchise mode in NHL 21 and the Sabres won the cup the 1st year while my Golden Knights finished dead last in the league… and it wasnt even close. If only games were played on paper lol… loaded with talent but lacking in heart.
