  1. The Utah Celestials, Utah Surgeons, Utah Californians, Utah Casseroles, Utah Inversion are all obvious bangers for an NHL team name

  2. How is Utah Buzz not getting more love? Good synergy with the Jazz, and a nod to Utah being the Beehive State.

  3. HC and Hockey Club are certainly placeholders, which is fine for what it is. Long term, it'd be terrible. I hope they have other ideas besides these ones.

  4. I prefer the Utah Blizzard. A natural disaster themed rivalry between the Avalanche and Blizzard sounds amazing. Not to mention when the Hurricanes play the Blizzard. Just intimidating concepts.
My second pick would be the Utah Hives. The Hive vs Blue Jackets match up sounds like a civil war 😂

  5. I remember when Brutus Beefcake wrestled in WCW as “the man with no name” It didn’t go down well

  6. Lots of ideas…Utah Zion (after the national park), Utah Swarm (beehive state), Utah Raptors (prolly too on the nose), Utah Golden Spikes (golden rivalry with Vegas), Utah Cutthroats (state fish), Utah Prairie Dogs (western most subspecies), Utah Roadrunners (native bird species, and loosely ties into the coyotes), Utah Monsters (gila monsters are native and is the state reptile), Utah Hikers (meh)…

  7. As a Utahn I am obsessed with the name Utah Raptors. Rolls off the tongue great and is named after the Utahraptor, one of it not the tallest raptor in known history.
And no, Toronto can't stop them unless Utah has the same logo and branding style. We've seen multiple different franchises use Bears, Lions, Oilers and Kings for example.
That said I am very sad for my Coyotes friends, and I did love the Coyotes so it's not all good feelings and excitement for me. It's weird, how I have feelings of death and birth of something I love in one swing.

  8. Utah Blizzard will give it a lot of opportunities to make some cool collaborations with the Utah Jazz. Blizzard Bees? As they have the whole beehive mentality going down there? Even have a beehive on their new state flag

  9. Not sure it's been mentioned but an aspect that helped expediate the move from Atlanta to Winnipeg was the fact that True North already had a staff (Moose) in place to help in that move.

  10. There was the Washington Football Team while they were in transition from the Redskins to the Commanders, so there is recent precedent in North American pro sports for a team not having a team name for a season

  11. Utah Arches? They’ll sell more jerseys if they go with HC and announce the name a year or two later.

  12. Didn’t Fanatics a year ago asked teams not to do any rebranding etc for their first season?? And that’s for established teams so I’m not expecting anything amazing from them jersey wise. I mean I don’t anyway because Fanatics are just a garbage company already but to put out new well done uniforms in a short time frame is a near zero probable event from them 😂

  13. I also agree with potential laziness on the owner. He put in work to get a team
so he should have some good concepts lined up. He should have people working around the clock to get this done. Then again, he’s a billionaire and I’m not. So I dunno. đŸ€·đŸ»â€â™‚ïž

  14. Is Arizona really gonna come back or is that Bettman being optimistic and refusing to believe it failed to save face. I mean it seems like the City and Mayor or Political leaders don’t care to have them there.

  15. I am so sorry and sad for Coyotes Fans. You deserved and deserve so much better than what management and the NHL as the whole have provided you. Being from Europe, the concept of relocation has always struck me absurd. Now i realise just how brutal it can be.
I wish Coyotes fans much joy in the future, and for Hockey to find its way back to them

  16. I’ve been through the desert on a horse with NO NAME it felt good to be out of the rain!

    The new version
I went to a city with a team with no name it felt good to arrive with love and no more pain!

  17. If you have colors in mind, then I have to believe they have a mascot/nickname in mind. If you were to do it right, wouldn't release colors and then try to figure out a good brand that also fits the colors. This makes me think they have one. However with lead time to produce merch and jerseys taking for-ev-er these days, and fanatics taking over, I think that is the true reason it wouldn't happen for next season

  18. I was literally only a yotes fan because of those little keychain hockey guys. I got him in a coin-turn capsule machine, and fell in love with the design as a kid. ever since I always rooted for the desert underdogs. It was heartbreaking to see, you're absolutely right.

  19. If a man who has been trying to get this team for years doesn’t even have a name ready, that’s kind of laughable

  20. A couple more trademark applications have been reported by Clark Rasmussen, including Utah Yetis and Utah Outlaws so add that to Blizzard, Venom, Fury and H.C. They’re obviously in the process of doing a lot of brand planning work right now. I maintain that I’ll be surprised if they don’t have a name and logo ready by October. And here’s the link to Clark’s story: https://www.detroithockey.net/2024/04/20/another-utah-trademark-update-utah-outlaws/

  21. I was not going to watch this, with so many out there now. They I saw it was icethetics I clicked right away. I agree, don’t rush it but make it right. A year with Utah on the chest, with some cool colours would be awesome to not be called Utah Snakeskins.

  22. Please don't do the HC/Hockey Club thing. That's the most underwhelming option of all, and pretty much the sole reason why most european organizations can't create such an engagement with the fans like how it goes in America.

I can see how the Washington Football Team could've come off as somewhat "refreshing" to some people, being an exception, but on the long run, with a name like this, they would've miss out on a lot. The "Utah Yeti" could be extremely fun, probably the only downside of it is that it resembles a little too much to the Kraken as a concept [mythic creature, singular form, etc…], but it's still a lucky one, if that's the biggest concern. If that's not it, I think they still should go with some animal, that has a face, a personality, something easy to get attached to.

  23. The colors from a past license plate of Utah, depicting the arch with various sand colors along with sky blue and navy blue, would be cool.
