The Coyotes are leaving Arizona for Utah starting next season.
Is Robyn a man?
2 decades of shitty ownership has finally caught up. Hockey works in Arizona, maybe just not the NHL. Glad ryan smith is actually going to care for the team
Shouldn't be a surprise. nhl enabled this mess 15 years too long. This was the inevitable outcome. It just took the little man this long to realize that. Now in slc they get an owner that wanted nhl and stepped up to rid nhl of this mess and give it a fresh new start. Thanks bettman for the 15 year shitshow in az. making the nhl look like the fourth rate bush league it is under bettman.
Utah / Ryan Smith wanted an expansion team. We will welcome and root for the Coyotes / Yeti?
Ryan Smith pays his bills, has a plan, political backing, and a great fan base that was itching for NHL action.
As an NHL fan, I followed the Avalanche, Coyotes and then the Knights. I have family in those states, so it worked. My heart goes out to the players, support staff and most of all, the fans. It sounds like ownership was really heartless and maybe dishonest. This team deserves to play in front of more than 4500 – 5000 fans. They deserve a motivated owner who is going to invest in them and their facilties in oder to build a winner. Can't wait to see it happen. 12:47
Does Katie Hobbs have any saying on the Coyotes staying in Arizona?
I know that she is a terrible governor when it comes to all kinds of politics, but I don't know where her party stands when it comes to NHL hockey and the Coyotes.
Katie Hobbs needs to get replaced ASAP by Kari Lake!
The End of an Error.
It's very unfortunate. Arizona can still work for hockey. The market itself isn't the problem, it was on ownership being unstable and not having building a winning culture.
I mean the official announcement isn’t listed anywhere on any of their social media
Salt Lake City Tabernac!
There will be NHL in the Southwest. Bettman chased a wish and a dream and owner investors before hockey in the West had matured as a viable enterprise. Hence a never ending tedium of failed results including no arena..
Surely a wealthy businessman will put together a terrific new franchise in Arizona. Present Coyotes owner Mereulo seems determined to realize that goal. Up to him to do more than further no outcome.
Utah won’t be anything like Arizona. Looking forward to the NHL accommodating both.
In the entire NHL history of the Jets/Coyotes franchise since 1979 they had 1 good season 2011-12 good luck in Salt Lake City
It's about time.
Hockey has been a loser in Arizona right from the start. It is not a hockey town.
This was an embarrassing farce. The single longest instance of professional sports franchise life support that I had ever seen. And it progressively got more and more absurd. The playing in a rinky dink college arena with a hastily assembled curtained visitors "locker room", Alex Meruelo the total clown owner who doesn't pay his bills…they were not even telling the players (who have to make plans for 2024-25 asap in terms of living arrangements, schools etc) that they were moving until it was leaked through the press. They were keeping it from players who I'm sure would've liked to know if they needed to find housing in SLC.
there is nothing to be sad about. They were given every opportunity. Arizona doesn't want a hockey team and they made it clear a long time ago
