Give him whatever he wants. It’s Patty Fuggin Kane! As much as I love Sprong and value guys like Perron etc, I’ll sacrifice one of them to make a Kane contract a go.
I think Yzerman can give Kane 2 years at the right price. However, Yzerman is a poker player. He reveals nothing until he gets what he wants. His comments about long term deals to restricted free agents was meant to be heard my Raymond and Sieder’s agents. If they can get Raymond at 8 years for $7M the deal will be done. Sieder is likely same term at $6.5M. I won’t sweat it yet.
Here's a total simpleton take: Kane won't be signing with Detroit, the hat tells me so. He never formed the bill of the Winged-Wheel cap to his head, but this interview shows me that he could have! 😉

3yrs @ 6.5mil per for Kaner. Morhits and Rayzor get massive 8yr deals. Lucas will be envious of Mo's amt, however. D always gets paid more than wingers.
i think its pretty simple with Kaner. He's not mentally ready to quit playing hockey at a professional level so his number one priority is getting a few years locked down. He's probably concerned about his injury history and age being something that keeps getting him short contracts and he wants stability. He loved his time here and the people he played with but being able to continue to play this sport at this level is his number 1 priority. thats what i'm getting from the whole thing.
