I can see Verbeek pushing hard for Stamkos if he doesn’t end up re-signing with the Lightning (Killorn said himself he’s been vouching hard for Stamkos to come over), or Marchessault.

    Possibly Montour on D?

    Should be an exciting offseason!

Drafting either Celebrini or Leshunov takes care of one of those.

    Fuck me up VerDaddy.

    Let’s build this bitch up

Elias Lindholm ( VAN) and Montour imo.

Both their teams are cap strapped and can’t payout for these two, at least not with full term.

  5. The Ducks can field a top 9 that sounds something like an NHL roster, if you read the names:
    Gauthier, Carlsson, Killorn
    Vatrano, McTavish, Terry
    Leason, Zegras, Strome

At least 8 of those 9 names sound like NHL roster players. We can’t blame everything on health. Why do those top 9 get so consistently out-played on the ice? Is it coaching? Is it defense? Obviously everyone played a bit higher than desired with Cutter not here yet and significant missed time for MacT, Z, Carlsson, and Killorn. But it was the Ducks top 2 lines that were consistently the problems being dominated on possession and shots. I hardly think we can pin the problem on the bottom 6, unless we assume that Cronin didn’t think he had a true defensive 4th line, so he just sent whoever was next against opposing studs.

Despite my comment above, a serious problem for the Ducks has been putting together a legitimate 4th line. 4th line should be your puck-hounding, annoying defensive forwards who can frustrate the hell out of opposing top lines and contribute on PK. Our current 4th line which has included Leason, Johnston, Lundestrom, Groulx, Silfverberg, McGinn, and Carrick at various times did not do the job.

I’d love to see Carrick back as a future 4th line anchor. Unfortunately I assume PVB will resign Meyers to fill the role I would want for Carrick. McGinn and Johnston should go through waivers and just collect their paycheck from a non-roster seat. Leason deserves a chance to move up. Lundestrom could also play the shutdown role fairly well.

I think top six means a little lower than a majority of the thread. I’d love the names listed, but I imagine it’ll closer to Ryan Strome territory rather than Elias Lindholm or stamkos.

I hope I’m wrong though, Verbeek has been pretty great imo outside of 1-2 contracts.

I feel like stamkos wouldn’t come here. He probably wants to win still. Killorn got his biggest payday, and took the money to mentor kids. Stammer has been making big bank his whole career, either tampa, Toronto or any contender is where he goes.

People are sleeping on Matt Roy imo

I’m hoping he means through trade for his forward acquisition . I’m not a huge fan of the UFA’s this summer. Maybe Konecny isn’t too happy in Philly and/or they are going to accept the rebuild? On D I’d be ok if we go through FA though, I think there’s a re good options there.
