Twogiev | Revue des avalanches, premier tour, match 2

Rachat. Georgiev joue le mieux que nous ayons vu depuis très longtemps et se mérite un peu moins dans le filet. Pendant ce temps, d’autres joueurs en difficulté, comme Josh Manson, parviennent également à se racheter. 1. Blaming the goaltender is generally always the lazy stupid easy thing to do.

The avalanches team defense is and has been the issue all season long. They probably should have stopped using motion offense around midseason with how inconsistent they have been on the defensive side of the puck but it also creates a lot of goals so i dont blame them trying to figure it out but they really need to focus more on the defensive side of the puck as they all jump on offense n look to get points all to often.

If you have blamed goergie the last two weeks of the reg season then you shouldnt talk about hockey ever again but i get it as its easy clicks but also know your hockey iq is zero. Georgie had a bad game after weeks of playing behind the worst defensive play I've ever seen from a professional hockey team as prime patty roy himself would have been lit up.

  2. I had to rewatch the game highlights on .5x to really get a feel for what exactly happened. First goal #20 sees everything. Wins the fo to wood, and celebrates first. I don’t think Kivi noticed till he completed a loop back. Insane goal. #73 did initiate the stick lift on goalie to crate the play but on closer look it was other guy that poked puck off boards to cogs. Cogs made a fantastic pass up. I think it was lecky that told Mack to make pass up to Manson. Real good effort and awareness came from him. And a defended backhand sharp angle from Val shows he’s got the skills even on an empty net. I imagine a 6” area covering the posts as the puck is about 4” in diameter flat of course.. so the line to make that shot couldn’t have been more than about 6” across to score. Just something to think about in general and why so many pucks hit posts in games. It’s not an inch either way to score or miss post. It’s literally 6” most of the time. Maybe it can hit an inch of the post to bank in so 5”… anyway. Great effort and amazing performance by gg. But the other end it would be a normal game if he did this. I hope gg finds his focus and confidence to make this look routine…

  3. I really thought you should have covered Nichushkin's goal. His presence in this game cannot be understated. He had multiple opportunities and directly contributed to several others. He continues to be worth every dime he is being paid.

  4. So all the hand wringing and bellyaching from Your homies has been a WASTE of Your viewers time. You didn't think Georgie had it in Him? Quite the admission of blind ignorance. I respect You alot more for Your admission. Eric LaCroix needs straightening out with His dismissals re: goalie play as does AJ.Please float these guys a $5.00 loan each so they can buy themselves a new personality 🍒🍒

  5. He need to start stacking games like this before I can give him anymore trust, a lot of hockey still this season even round 1.

  6. Goes to show how important Makar actually is quarterbacking P1, the second he gets held out to get patched up they powerplay because mediocre.

And quarterbacking P2 just didnt have the firepower he is used too.

  7. I agree with most of this-especially that Giorgiev can't be blamed for either goal. But I don't blame J Johnson for goal #2 either.Could he have played it better-sure but that's an All Star Scheflie-who made a phenomenal play-after a great pass 2 on 1. The other team is good,& occasionally makes great plays also. But at least you didn't blame Giorgiev.Too many simplistic, non nuanced people seriously tried hanging that on him-though to be fair-also did give him due credit for rest of the game. But 3rd period looked a lot like 2022 Avs closing out a game with a lead-not much like this yrs team-whos often behind in the 3rd-& arguably is in better shape when they are behind-lol.

I don't expect WPG to make as many defensive mistakes as they did in WPG or Hellunbuck to keep giving up 5 goals a game. And Giorgiev is still by far the biggest question mark in the series. But Avs do have more talent. We don't need elite goaltending,& defense…we might not even need quite as good as last night. But we can't have awful like game 1. We need at least league average to have any chances-but if we consistently get defense & goaltending like last night-Avs will be as tough to beat as anybody.
