Saying the VGK didn't ice a team over the salary cap ignores that most teams are carrying some dead cap and all teams will have players that don't make the cut to play every game.
Maybe Mark stone should retire if he is that injured every season and only able to play in the playoffs 😮😮😮😮
The issue is he can play game 1 but couldn’t play three days prior in Anaheim? How can he go from not being able to play in regular season to playing almost 20 minutes in game 1?
Boo frickin hoo
Someone needs to point out to Adam that every Eastern Conference series would be the same if they did 1-8 seeding instead of the division matchups and Dallas-Vegas would still
be playing each other in the 1-8 seeding system.
Oh yeah Mark Stone is most definitely a caveman/animal.
Simple answer. YES! This is cheating and abusing the system.
10mil $ player for 2 years in a row somehow miraculously coming back on time for PO. People say Vegas did nothing wrong because they had $10mil player not playing for them and still made the playoffs, yeah because you are realistically 10mil over the cap.
Nobody is saying they’re lying I don’t think, I think the problem people have is that they extended the time because they knew if he was already out like a couple weeks or months they could acquire someone at the deadline, and that he probably could’ve gone weeks ago but for the cap situation.
It’s not cheating. It’s just a stupid system. What’s the point of having a salary cap only for the regular season?
Yea sure the "NHL Doctors" Looked at Stone. Not like Bettman wouldn't get on his knees and start blowing the whole vegas lockerroom,
It's not cheating but it is an exploit.
Of course they are. How is he not ready for game 82?
Tampa did the same thing with Kuchie 2-4yrs ago and won a Cup. If the league thought this was a party foul they would have fixed it the following offseason.
Did Tampa or Vegas violate any league rule? No.
Therefore it is not cheating…
I haven't finished the video yet but they just brought up 2022. Mark Stone's injury. At the start of the playoffs Vegas was $8 million or so over the cat salary cap….. They were the team third on the list in terms of dollars over the salary cap. Number two is Tampa Bay at a little over $10 millon, and number one…… Drum roll please…. Steven A. Dangles own to Toronto Maple leafs at $14 million and change…
Right now Vegas sits at like $700,000 over the salary cap. There are like Three players they could sit who lined up against Dallas in game one and be under the salary cap.
Everybody needs to slow down a second and look at the whole League.
Vegas Golden Knights: when you're so good, they say you're cheating
Vegas does this every year! Mark Stone had back injury last year. The league should at least make. some changes because it's not right.
The "C" on Mark Stone's jersey is for "Cheater"!
The league should limit the $ amount of players brought in while someone on the team is in LTIR. Still keep the cap in place.
Best take on this that has been done.
Every team can do this but they dont spirit of the game and all that one team is abusing it and how lucky the are every year
This is perfection. Finally. Some sense .
just to clear things up he finished the regular season 2022 seeing as the playoffs started in may and he came back april 12
Toronto is #1 team over the cap limit, Tampa Bay #2, Vegas #3.
Can someone explain to me why is cap not a thing in the playoffs!? I dont blame Stone or Vegas but NHL for this happening.
It's not cheating because the rules allows it. So if there needs to be a discussion about anything it's not if Vegas is cheating but if the rules should be changed to not allow this to happen in the first place.
Vegas plays Dallas regardless of the divisions…they were the 8th seed dummies.
Yes, the league is broken.
Great if you want to be injured and come back for the playoffs then do that nobodys gives a f* but you cant go over the salary cap when the player returns thats bs
In the US Mark Stone would likely be considered a public figure so he would have to prove "actual malice" (that the defendant knew the statement was false or that they had serious doubt about the truth of the statement but said it anyway) to win a defamation suit
reduce salary cap available from LTIR by amount of games played as percentage of season?
It’s a sports gambling coverup. The NHL is in on it. You guys are special if you can’t see it
Friedman said it BEAUTIFULLY on Pat Macafee yesterday; everyone does it (the LTIR stuff) but Vegas has perfected it
i'm one of the conspiracy theory guys and i'm glad jesse cleared that up. it was taking a lot of energy hating on vegas. now i can concentrate on pettersson and losing demko.
They are abusing the rule. However if the rule allows for this abuse then you can't really be upset about it.
Yeah, the over-competitive d-bag ruining game night isn't "cheating" technically, he's just making sure nobody has any fun. Sportsmanship is dead, win at any costs, I knew who Vegas was the moment they shafted Flower.
Short answer no, long answer yes. They’re breaking the spirit of the CBA, the Canucks got retroactively punished for a legal contract under the CBA, so if that was the case then, it’s most definitely the case with Vegas now. However, it’s Buttmans baby so they can never do wrong.
Yes Indeed they are cheating. The cba needs to fix this problem
Explained really well here. Glad some people still keep a level head on the situation and actually understand the facts.
Funny how he goes on LTIR around the same time every year.
I mean Toronto is icing the highest cap in the playoffs and it’s not doing them too many favors. It’s almost like you can spend a ton of money but the players need to actually play and win.
VGK was the #8 overall seed in the conference and Dallas was the #1 overall seed. The division format sucks but they would still be playing each other in the other format.
No, they aren’t, but they are using the loophole in bad faith. Not the only team to do it, but maybe the most egregious abuse of the rule. Hopefully it will be changed soon, but we will see if the GMs are really upset at it.
Lived here 25 years and watching this city turn into what it is ( corporate greed) so quickly is gutting. I will be a Sharks Sabres fan and Knights and Vegas can suck it. Town is a scam on every level
Jesse is drinking that Vegas kool-aid
For me it wasn’t just Mark Stone, it was that they activated like 3 or 4 players for game 1 of the playoffs and and somehow none of them were healthy enough to play a few days earlier for their last game of the season. I don’t doubt the injuries my question is if a player is healthy enough to play. Edie’s they were actives of LTIR. But as noted, Tampa did this before VGK and The Blackhawks even did it before that. This has been going on for nearly a decade and with multiple cup winning teams.
NBA handles this much better. You have to apply for an exception that would give you that room, and it would only apply if it's clear that player couldn't contribute this season. If it's like that Mark Stone can come back for game 1 (like he did)….. no you can't then just add 3 good players just because. If Mark Stone is out till next season… Yeah okay.
If Stone were THAT awesome why does he keep getting hurt every single February? The rule simply needs to be changed that if you go on LTIR, you are not eligible for playoffs that year, period.
So far they are under this year as well on the team they ice.
It's a ridiculous loophole that no one should be surprised exists in the NHL. It blatantly alters fairness at the most important point in an NHL season which is also ridiculous, and we could see multiple cup winners over the last several years employ it.
