It is not even close at all. Feel bad for Ovechkin because he looks like he is injured. Solid break down with the video. They shut him down and it is way too easy. But no one in their right mind can take anything away from the great 8. He did it all and played with no fear. The fourth line for the Rangers has surprised me the most and will need to be at their best in future playoff rounds if the Rangers want to keep playing hockey. Rempe is a wrecking ball out there and he keeps proving why he earned a spot. It looks like he is hustling up and down the ice and has solid positioning in front of the net.
Ovechkin doesn't look old, he looks disinterested. It's all about chasing a personal record.
don't follow the caps so could be way off – but amateur observation.. He shifted into his top/playoff gear in the second half of the season. That might even go for the entire Caps team possibly. Rangers upped their game. Game over.

Rangers fan here but I’ve enjoyed watching the Caps for years. Hell, loved watching a very inebriated Ovi celebrate the cup win back in ‘18.
That being said, as others have mentioned it’s not that he seems to be playing poorly, it’s more like he’s completely disinterested this post season. It’s a bummer to see.

Ovi lead by goal scoring. Never struck me as true ‘Captain’ like Crosby or Toews. Now that he’s 38 and playing without Backstom, he seems incapable of any real leadership. Great career, but should retire.

Sidney Crosby is better than Ovi by a Canadian mile and he's the same age. If Crosby was in the playoffs, you can bet your bottom dollar that he wouldn't be standing still. It's not about shutting him down when he's melting the ice in the spot where he started in the first period of the game 1. Doesn't matter if he can score 31 goals in the regular season if he's not helping his team in the playoffs and get swept in 4 games. Seems like you are not watching the series. If he can't hack it no more, take his C away and move him down to the forth line. Or just scratch him. The Capitals are playing shorthanded when he is on the ice.
As far as Ovi's slump earlier in the season, i think he got depressed with Backstrom being out. They have been playing together forever, amd i wont be surprised if Backstrom's career is over
