They came back on my Pens in 1975. Down 3 games to none, the Islanders changed goalies: benched Billy Smith and started Chico Resch. Won 4 straight games banishing my Pens to yet another fruitless offseason.

This was my first in-person playoff game ever. Have to give credit to the Isles fans for bringing the intense atmosphere.
Canes went 33% at the dot, no way you win most games with that amount of lost possession. KK misses 2 wide open nets, Aho playing like he has the flu (could’ve been that dirty cross check to his neck from Bortuzo), and some poor 5v5 play, this coulda been a 4-1 Canes win. Isles aren’t giving up much, it’s gonna be a good game in Raleigh (Raw-Lee) for game 5. I expect the Canes to close it out at home in 5 games.
One stat that I pull for this game. The hits. When a home team gets almost double the hits on the visitors, it tends to fuel not only the players, but the crowd as well. I know the Canes are a "finesse" team (strange, considering who the coach is, but hey) and that's fine when you're ahead, or playing at home. Not so much on the road against an angry team. I was frankly surprised that Carolina stayed in it. The Isles played good…This one's going 6 at least…

We did not deserve to win… this team is still losing in 5 games does nothing to convince me that this team is any good or belongs in the playoffs. They need more offensive talent desperately.
See no positives to come out of this series other than the perception this team is in a better spot than it is. A retool could really help out.

All the comments about the empty seats. I mean, who cares? It’s not your money or worry. Let the Islanders owners worry about it. I suspect most of the comments are coming from fans whose teams missed the playoffs. By the way, I’m not an Islander fan, but if you can’t come up with something new, why say anything?
It has now got to the stage that You Tube is recommending cat content rather than hockey content during a THG video!
I think reverse sweeps aren't the impossible they once were. For this Isles team, if they believe in themselves, anything is possible.

Isles fan: probably not ..
This series should be tied at least 2-2. Its more evenly matched than people think. The Isles might not be as skilled overall as the Canes, but they are a proud gritty team that plays with a lot of heart and passion. The breaks seemed to go Carolin's way the first 3 games, but if Lady Luck decides to even things out, anything can happen!
As a Rangers fan im looking for this series to continue. A tired Vanes team would be great and Andersen isnt playing amazing right now.
NYI yeah they play well enough during major portions of these games but they just don't have enough of high end talent to score enough goals to win. They definitely need to add a top end goal scorer.
Less and less impressed by Hurricanes as we go on…bad on me picking them to win the East. They still lack that high end offensive punch that has held them back in just about ever playoff run.

Unpopular opinion: OT period should be played in full no matter what, not end with the first goal.
I'm an Isles fan and I have to admit that Carolina is a fantastic team. We can certainly compete with them when we're 5 on 5, but the Hurricanes are just an incredible team. They're playing at the top of their game and are a force to be reckoned with. I'll always be proud to be an Islanders fan, though. Our team always puts up a fight and works incredibly hard. We're the complete opposite of the Maple Leafs, who seem to lack the grit and determination that our team demonstrates every postseason. LETS GO ISLANDERS.
Islanders have shown to be streaky, swing back the momentum the other way don't let round 1 end for a few more games
Isles fan here, I think this series goes 6. Maybe even 7. Canes will likely prevail tho. They’re obviously the better team, but the isles aren’t going to give up. Need varly to stay strong and keep up the presence in front of Andersen. Pelech and Pulock look washed right now, but if they can muster up a little strength to win a couple board battles and not turn it over, maybe the isles make this a series.
