oh what a shocking « random » example coming from the guy who constantly talks about getting rid of Fowler. sure, « random »

Fowler isn’t getting bought out. we don’t have anyone who can play his minutes. Forcing Minty or Zell to play #1 D minutes when they aren’t ready is going to hurt their development. let them take that spot with their play.

we’re not hurting for cap space, Fowler and Gudas are the only experienced defensemen we have signed for next season btw; plus his contract ends the same time as the young core needs to be re-signed.

With our cap space we don’t need to buy anyone out. We don’t have any bad contracts. Only one I can see is maybe if we can move gibson we can take on most of the contract in return for a prospect or draft picks.

Ah yes let’s buy out a player with two years left on a contract, as one of the few vets on the D line, while we hopefully play meaningful games come April next season.

I hope you get hired with the Kings to help them with their cap situation!

A lot of chatter about Fowler. Interesting to explore what that leaves us with.

    LD Zellweger, Mintyukov, Vaakannainan/LaCombe.

RD Gudas, Luneau, (Lindstrom, Warren, 2024 draftee, FA).

Interesting indeed plus saving money for a FA. We saw the positive impact of Gudas, but still finished 3rd worst D.

Edit: this years draft pick if a D.

I think the next 2 years Cam will become more of a 2nd pairing LD. These next few seasons i can see him playing the bulk of the minutes on his off side while giving more minutes to a natural LD. I hate to say it but zelly looked really good playing in the NHL on his off side, that shows we can use him as the new fowler when we need too. A player who is a natural LD but can also play his off side well enough could be invaluable while we trade/draft/prospects come up on the right side

I think McGinn is the only one truly worthy of a buyout, but there’s really no point in doing it. We have lots of roster spots that need filling but with $33mil in space I highly doubt there will be any issues.

No need for cap space going into next season, so I doubt there will be any buyouts at this point. I could see possibly buying out Strome or Killorn in the final year or 2 of their contracts, but only if there is a demand for the cap space.

A buyout on Gibson would be something done out of mercy. A lot of teams would probably love to have him, just not at his current cap hit.
