  1. You said it exactly. Time off is good but not too much time. I would like to also point out, the Rangers are the only team to have swept a series in the 1st round. But wait, there's more. They did the same thing 30 years ago in the 1st round against the Islanders.

  2. I'm of the mind that the fewer games they have to play benefits them. Playing 7 games every series, just wears the team down. We've seen that in the past. Take the rest and the opportunity to start prepping for the next series.

  3. Concerning your time off question, I don't think there's a right answer. Different teams react differently to time off in the playoffs. In the past there's been arguments made both ways… some argued a team lost momentum because of time off and others say that time off gave a team time to rest up so they were better ready to go after being beaten up. Like everything else in the playoffs it comes down to which team is better.

  4. Valeri Nichushkin had a hat trick vs Jets but he had 0 goals in 57 GP for Stars. He should have retired in 2019.

  5. Dogshit NHL rules allowed this to happen. Should be based on wins. If you want to do stupid 3on3 OT and Shootouts you have to commit to it. Red Wings with MORE wins muss the chance for much needed playoff experience while the garbage caps get destroyed and move off into obscurity for a couple decades.

  6. Yeah Ovi only cares about his own goal scoring record now. It's like he woke up midway through the season and thought 'oh man if I don't shoot some pucks I won't beat Gretz', threw a few pucks on net, couldn't be bothered with the playoffs because he knew he'd never get the cup again and just decided to coast. Dude literally looked like he was on holiday out there.

  7. How the caps with their abyssmal performance all year long made the playoffs is beyond my understanding anyway…

  8. Ranger had a pretty easy round. I’m excited to actually see them get tested this post season. Good series but you could tell from game 1 where that one was going. Wish it was the wings in there but oh well. Maybe they should make the playoffs next year

  9. If the Caps were serious about competing, Ovechkin, Oshie and Carlson should be released.

  10. Everyone aside from Caps fans wanted the Caps in. Wings would have made it more competitive. The difference between the two teams is the Wings are actually better but lacked consistent goaltending. Caps are boring as all hell but had great goaltending. If given the chance, perhaps Alex Lyon shuts it down completely and lets the Wings go on a tear offensively and they maybe win the series or at least go to game 6 or 7 or something. This was pathetic.

  11. I said it to my dad, this series was not fun to watch, as a ranger fan I just didn’t feel the hype of the playoffs I’m going to games 1 and 2 next series so I really hope they will have a good series, the week off I think is good, great opportunity to practice, scout ahead learn the playoff style of isles and canes just gotta or prepared and go hard in game 1 set the tone

  12. Ovetchkin is past his ability to be a decent player ..he avoids hits, doesnt help his team when it counts….he should be put into pasture ….
The scoring record will cost the caps fans many , many lost games if they keep him

  13. You'd think the great 8 would go out with a bang. Nah, he's going out with a whimper and it's sad. It's like the family dog that should have been put down a year ago but you just keep it alive for your own greed. In this case Ovi's own greed.

  14. 1:06 This is exactly why Crosby is the far better player. I remember Trotz calling Ovi out for his selfish play during their cup run. "Ovi has to decide if he's playing for himself or playing for the team."

  15. Obetchkin looks like a player who is betting against his own team…
Or, his hips are toast now.😮

  16. I say that their sweep is a benefit because if u think back to 2 years ago, all of their series went to seven and by the time they got to Tampa, they just seemed tired while tamp, who had just swept the series before that, looked a little rusty in the first couple games but then dominated the rangers the last 4 games

  17. Ovechkin has always been a ME player and never a TEAM player. A guy who just stands there waiting to be served by his teammates who did all the work for him to fire a one timer, there is no way this disgrace should overtake Gretzky’s record. Work ethic and attitude reminds me of another Russian who he’s best friends with 🤔

  18. If he come’s back he’s gonna be 250 pounds after summer. I bet they gonna give him some sport minister job in Russia. Old hockey stars use to run that bullshit.

  19. Ah, your dead wrong about Ovechkin. It's not that he doesn't care, he's age 38 playing the final 2 months of the season to fight getting in the playoffs. When the playoffs started the Caps were chasing all over the ice and OV was just out of gas. If you want to talk about a player who doesn't care, look at Kings Center PLD who is age 25. That is a player who doesn't look like he cares! OV has done so much for the Caps from age 20 – 38, that it should be the team that should do things for him(like pick the slack and score goals so he doesn't pressure to score goals). Also, OV chan't play the left point on the PP no more because he is too much of a liability, as opponents know that and put fast pressure on him to make a lot of mistakes. OV can continue playing on the PP, but has to switch to the bumper position like Pavelski does. He will have to play closer to the net on the PP to get his goals.

For next season, GM BMac has to add some skilled forwards for OV so he becomes a complimentary player and not be a core player anymore. At age 38 he's still playing 20+ mins per a game which is too much for his age. Coach Carbery needs to cut down his mins between 15 – 20 mins, and monitor him. No more playing the left point and no more carrying the puck in the neutral zone.

Regarding sweeps, it can hurt you more than help you. While playing a max 4 rounds is rigorous, a sweep gives you good rest but at the same time can get a player/whole team completely out of rhythm. As a goalie, not playing for a couple weeks is a stretch you don't want as goalies like to get in a stready rhythm even more so than the players. A cold goalie can end up looking like a bad goalie.
