I’m pro-keep or pro-trade Jeff to Toronto, Ottawa, Detroit or Montreal while retaining half his cap hit. I think a buyout hurts us too much in 2025-26 and 2026-27
A 3rd line of Skinner – Krebs – Kulich sounds like a disaster waiting to happen unless Krebs and/or Kulich is a lot better than I expect.
Skinner and Krebs did absolutely nothing together to end the season.
I would be willing to go as far as retaining half his salary if anyone is willing to take him. I fear his NMC might make things difficult. Either way, his contract doesn’t hurt us that much this year, but we will have a serious decision to make in regard to Skinner once the young guns get new contracts.
Can he score 30+ playing 3rd line minutes with Krebs and a rookie even though the end of the season showed that Krebs and Skinner did absolutely nothing together.
If we go into next season with Skinner-Krebs-Kulich as our third line, Adams deserves to get fired.
Last year wasn’t a blip, he’s 31. This is the last offseason it will be possible to move him before word gets around that he’s shot. Maybe when Toronto gets eliminated they’ll have a bout of temporary insanity and be willing to hammer out a deal for him. I could see him waiving the NTC to go to Toronto.
The only option is a buyout. The only question is when they do it.
As long as he would waive his NTC, he honestly shouldn’t be hard to trade if we eat cap. At 9 mill he is not great, but at 5 he is a pretty good value
We pay him 10 mill next year. Then 7M then 5M. How about, if he okays NMC (doubt it) Sabres pay 3M per year of contract. Last 2 years the other team only pays 4M and 2M respectively. Sabres throw in 2nd round. Skinner has to agree though….
I want to see how he does under Ruff before I even have a thought on this

Skinner isnt a play driver. He needs linemates that drive play which Tuch and Thompson were doing last season, but this season barely anybody was driving play. When Skinner tries to drive play you get insane cross ice passes between 3 defenders.
I don’t think they need to hit the panic button with Skinner. He still has elite scoring ability.
He’s a 5 million dollar player at best getting 9. UPL, Peterka, Quinn, Byram, and possibly Levi all need a decent bridge or big boy contract by 2025. Could really benefit us if that 9 million wasn’t on the books…
