  1. Thank God this miserable season came to its inexorable and inevitable conclusion. They lost this game like they lost so many games this season. I only watched a few minutes of these playoff games as I never felt they had a prayer to beat the Canes. I saved my self a lot of heartache and aggravation. My gut feeling is that LL stays and that Roy and he will work in tandem to bring in players that can play the way Roy wants. Standing still is not an option.

  2. inexcusable to lose 3 STRAIGHT TIMES TO THE SAME TEAM IN THE PLAYOFFS. HOW THE MIGHTY HAVE FALLEN FROM JUST PRIOR TO OUR FIRST CUP WHEN WE FINISHED TWICE WITH THE BEST RECORD IN THE NHL TO POST DYNASTY. SO SAD.

  3. This is a good thing we can get an early start on next year Roy needs a whole offseason and training camp and it is time for Lou to step down we made the playoffs all but one year since he came here. Sorokin needs to bounce back from a bad season and a lot of great goalies of the year have a had a bad season and came back strong the next year. Fuhr, Lindbergh and Richter to name a few and our coach in 86 he won The Cup and Conn Smyth and was backing up Hayward in 87. Came back strong . Who do you guys thing should be the next GM?

  4. BYE BYE Isles. I am not mad, disappointed, or surprised. This is right where isles season should have went. A middling playoff team that barely gets in thanks to a hot april. And five, six games against a better opponent was as far as isles would go taking into account canes didn't play their best hockey. This series was over with the blown 3 goal lead. If isles win that one they probably last six. Just the reality of things. Now on to off-season. Isles now get 19th pick being third team eliminated. Question is-is louzer going to run it back, again, with similar/worse results? And will 19th pick go as well? And roy will want his own coaches next season. Stay tuned… Isles went about as far as they could with expected result.

  5. Islanders could have folded like a portable picnic table , but they fought back and fought hard, and with development of McLean, and provided the Islanders sign their essential players, and deal some of the others we should have better results next year

  6. Well, it was I fun ride while it lasted. I’m looking forward to Coach Roy bringing in his assistants. It’s going to be a very interesting & fun offseason. Thank you Gil for all that you do for us and for putting up with all of our whining and crying. Let’s go Islanders!

  7. Gil, 2 is the Islanders best puck moving defenseman. It would be a huge mistake not to offer him a reasonable fair contract

  8. Plug finally pulled……… *————————————————-flatline———————————-^

  9. Gil, we all know unless senile Lou is sent packing nothing is going to change. The team will be the same as this year maybe the olde man talks rusty into staying. With the contracts and no trade clauses we’re right where we don’t want to be in the sucky middle. The first person I try to unload is PELECH. Especially if u want to bring Reilly back. I myself would play the 6’4” 220lb bolduc! We can’t have mayfield and Pelech on the same roster. Mayfield started last season thinking he was Bobby Orr and his play has regressed since then. He wasn’t any better this year even before the injury. Of course I’d try to move him too but with that ridiculous contract he’s not going anywhere. Martin and clutter can’t be brought back again it doesn’t matter how much we like them. Sure glad it wasn’t Sorokin in net letting up 4 goals in under twenty seconds. lol

  10. With all due respect to the rules: What Evgeny Kuznetsov did was bogus. Four rules that have to be changed: 1, If the puck gets sent the length of the ice and there’s no opposing player around you? You must play the puck. (The simplest fix would be to go back to touch icing) I was shocked the NHL implemented men’s recreational hockey league rules! 2, You have to take strides on shootouts and penalty shots. (If the NHL can implement the Martin Brodeur rule? The NHL can implement the Evgeny Kuznetsov rule) Goalies do not stand a chance and I’m going to defend Varly because he tried to do the only thing he could do to prevent a goal. At some point the goalie has to stop giving ground, or why bother having the goalie in the net? Trust me, Patrick Roy will have something to the league about this Evgeny Kuznetsov nonsense this offseason. (You can be sure of that) I was ALL FOR changing the rules after what Josh Bailey did to Marty. This nonsense Evgeny Kuznetsov pulled last night needs to stop league wide! The fourth rule is you can’t put the puck on the blade of your stick and score. (The Michigan) and or advance the puck in any way whatsoever while the puck is on your stick blade, this is not LaCross!

  11. Looking forward to the offseason and a more solid team under Roy hopefully by next season. Many thanks Gil for your hard work and engaging analysis throughout the season and going forward.

  12. varly lost that for us….two absolute stinker goals, one also stoppable, one on the worlds slowest penalty shot where he didnt poke check or engage, and a bonehead lazy play behind the net with a bad bounce…the fact that roy was scared to pull him when it obviously wasn't his night to put in his young ace goalie is very telling…sorokin will have. A very very long offseason. bottom line is we lost in five to an overrated, beatable canes team who the rangers will spank. very disappointing season with so many gut punches. thanks for making it all tolerable Gil. love the channel. let's go islanders

  13. Hey, atleast Lou thought they were strong enough to make a deep run 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
    Clean house starting with Lou!!!!

  14. A few years ago Tampa was the team they couldn’t beat now they can’t beat anyone. Sad situation this team is in

  15. Keeping this roster going into next year would also be an insult to Roy and hiring him would also have been a dumb decision. Hopefully Lou is gone and they can retool without the fool

  16. Thank you, Gil, for the great job you do. The season ends like it started, an embarrassing sloppy mess. I'm glad it's over personally. I couldn't take it anymore. I fear next year will be much worse. Let's go Mets!

  17. You said what I have to say and what I have been saying to you all year. It's time to rebuild, Gil. The run was over after the Islanders lost Game 7 to Tampa. They are going downward. This means it's time for a change in the front office. There has to be serious conversation about Lou Lamoriello's future with ownership. I want Lou to do the right thing and retire rather than go through an awkward dance here. Lou did a great job here, but there comes a time where it's time to move on. His expiration date was here a long time ago. He needs to go for the Islanders to move forward.

As for last night, there's no point beating a dead horse about a loss. The Islanders did all they could here. The bottom line as you said is the Canes were just a better team. That's the reality of this series.

It's about what happens this offseason and how this franchise move forward.

  18. At least they didn’t get swept but just one win is pretty ugly, I hope Lamarillo walks away quite into the dust, and Patrick Roy and a new GM can start sorting out this team Great show Gil thank you and away we go to the off season better luck next year LGI !!!

  19. 2 good periods is not a valiant effort! 40 minutes will never win a game! Falling asleep in the last period is disgraceful! Most of This team must be sold off! Lou must go! There are a lot of old faces we loved as players and people but the time has come to part ways !

  20. If the islanders can just get the series to a game 9 anything can happen. Imagine if series were that long?😳😳 Have a great summer!

  21. Good 🌄, Gil, how are you? Even though they messed up in the first period, and then they gave up 2 goals within 8 seconds of the 3rd period, The Islanders didn't give up. The penalty shot did them in, too. If Lou Lamoriello does make some changes, and he will, I hope Patrick Roy won't stay with The Islanders, because IT WAS HIS COACHING THAT GOT THEM IN THE PLAYOFFS IN THE FIRST PLACE. Last night's loss wasn't Varly's fault. Hero Brovk Nelson for scoring a goal and an assist. 🐐 COMMUNITY EFFORT BAD BOUNCES, AND SLOPPY PLAY. As usual, I 📣 myself up by watching Game 5 between The
Islanders and MN, and before that, I saw Game 3 between The Islanders and Vancouver, where Mike Bossy RIP, scored a goal while in mid air. HAPPY 🎂, PAT CONAGHER. Hear from you tomorrow, Gil, and LET'S GO ISLANDERS.

  22. Great job this year Gil always looked forward to listening in way to work in morning!! Enjoy the summer and hope team sees it’s need overhaul and change.

  23. Say what you will as stressful as the season was it was fun and engaging. Rumor is that Clutterbuck and Martin are retiring so sad to see them go. I think this will be a rebuild next year as old assets are traded away or left to walk.

  24. whoever was in charge of the penalty killing unit should be barred from coaching hockey at any level for life

  25. Gm Gil. The Isles greatest adversary all season long has been themselves and seldom played at their best. Last night was typical. Defensive breakdowns resulted in 4 goals including a penalty shot, 2 short handed goals, and generally poor play. The Isles did not get playoff caliber goaltending. what I really saw was a lack of desperation last night. I credit the Isles for scoring goals in the 2nd period but their defensive has been generally poor all season.

  26. Good morning Gil, I thought last night the islanders gave an excellent effort. The team they have should have won covid year or the year after 😢 they did not win and now they need to break the team up a little. They did show a picture of GM Lou and he is in excellent condition for 81 or 82. I think give lou another year to fixs the problems if he can. Now it kills me to root for the rangers but it’s a New York Team 🎉🎉🎉🎉 Gil, I want to thank you for all the hard work you do to keep us posted. Everything you say i do agree!!!! For the birthday 🎂 day today is my wife Monika ❤ may 1st plus my half birthday 🎂 November 1st lol enjoy the summer!😊

  27. Like many i was glad. Rebuild. Let’s go. Isles are a unique hockey team being the smallest of a three team area. Maybe The Ducks and the Kings are similar in terms of closeness. Let’s see who hangs them up going forward and who they can trade for prospects with some size.

  28. Morning Gil, I’m just going to say that this off season is going to go of two ways. Either exciting of the new faces we signed or absolutely miserable with the same ole faces being resigned. You and everyone on here know what we need the new faces. And I honestly think that we will sign a player from the Canes this off season (I’m calling it now 😂)

  29. It's definitely time for a management change. Lou refuses to see the obvious and will continue to do little to nothing to fix anything

  30. this was my first season tuning in, GIl. thanks for always having 30 min of content through thick and thin. you were my nightly therapy and always gave a great perspective. here's to the offseason shenanigans and of course, next season

  31. Gil love these guys , and they did best they could . However it's a little upsetting to here vets two years in row kinda taking bows about stretch drive to make playoffs to overcome mess they created. Even in playoffs after frittering away chances and leads
They kinda say we'll we played hard , something has to change
Not to mention , as you said the
Horrible starts and bad finishes .

  32. Well fought back, just to get hit by two unlucky bounces when we were on top of Carolina. We went close in the series, but lost to an overall better team at their peak.
