Hah beat me to it. Transcript of the tweet:

#Canes President & General Manager Don Waddell just finished speaking to the media. Some major updates here…

    • Tony DeAngelo is fine after leaving last night’s game during the third period. X-rays were all negative and he is feeling better today.

    • Brett Pesce (lower-body injury) is out of a walking boot. If everything goes as expected, he should play games in Round 2. He may not be ready for Game 1, but the team is hoping to have him available at some point during the series.

    • CT scans and MRIs revealed that Jesper Fast suffered an injury to a muscle in his neck during the team’s regular season finale.

    • There’s a « very quick timeline » for an announcement regarding an AHL affiliation for the 2024-25 season.

    • He talks daily with Rod Brind’Amour about a contract extension. « Rod wants to be a Hurricane for life… There’s going to be a solution here very quickly. »

Well hot damn. That’s overall some really good news. Interesting that a strain would keep Fast out 8+ weeks. Maybe they were being precautious? Would really like to get him back out there, although KK has been good.

Sounds like Fast may be able to rejoin if we make a deep run

Based on Rod’s historical comments (I wish someone would do a coach speak for the NHL lol) I was expecting some terrible news, and left on the hook until at least Friday to find out. This is probably one of the best articles, from a positivity perspective, that I have seen since I think the trade deadline this year and before that since 2006 lol

  5. Good stuff. I was worried about something like a severe concussion with Fast. Fingers crossed for a Fast recovery, and also for Pesce.

  6. this is positive on all fronts. can’t complain.

BrindAmore is Hockey and is the Hurricanes; We love uncle Don!
    LFG, NY killa’s !

Honestly, Fast and Pesce being healthy to play soon is massive. If the current starters are playing well and are winning against the Rangers, do you slot them in anyway? I don’t think we do.

I don’t expect anything to be finalized on Rod’s contract until after the last game is played

Very quick timeline for an AHL announcement again makes me think that they are just waiting for whatever team they are buying to end their Playoffs.  I can’t see any other reason for the delay.

Syracuse, Milwaukee and Charlotte are the three likeliest options.

*In the next 24 hours, this subreddit gets 253 posts linking back to clickbait websites that read this and take away from it that Rod is leaving the Canes to coach an AHL team*

    Holy. That’s huge.

The only thing that could make this day better would be the announcing Round 2 game 1 start date and time.
