I feel that the league could potentially have grounds to ban Meruelo from the league permanently if they can prove all of this in court.
What led to their relocation was the fact the NHL wasn't gonna wait for them to secure land and then build! They let it go 2 yrs and weren't willing to wait another 3/4!
He's supposedly still going through with hearing in June to secure land! And is still owner of possible new Coyotes franchise!

You tell me how many franchises would flourish with the mismanagement and franchise overhaul the Coyotes have gone through. Imagine having an owner who decided to cross out the price of hotels and put in your own… or removing copy machines.. or telling Shane Doan he isn't qualified for a hockey job. You're the owner of a professional sports franchise for Christ's sake!

I blame the fans. They barely showed up for almost 30 yrs. That Tempe vote wasn't like the one in KC. They didn't vote to renovated an arena, they voted that they didn't want one.
Desert Diamond Arena (the Coyotes old arena in Glendale) is out in the middle of nowhere, and the NHL wouldn’t have allowed Meruelo to buy the team if he was going to keep the team in Glendale. This isn’t all Meruelo’s fault that the Coyotes left. They’ve had worse owners in the past that put them in this mess.
The fans in AZ deserved a better owner. If the coyotes ever come back, I hope it is with a serious owner.

I think Leafs fans are always going to be Leafs fans. A team in Hamilton would probably affect the Buffalo Sabres more than Toronto. You would have a lot of fans in Southern Ontario who now would have a team closer than Toronto and you wouldn’t have to cross the border to watch the Sabres.
