  1. Sure sounds like having his family grown here gives him extra reason to stay

This man is ready to sign a team friendly deal, get it done JBB

  3. dwarfmarine13

He’s basically just said he’d finish out his career with this team for free(not literally of course)… but the offer needs to be made.

  4. HannTwistzz

Literally just don’t make an offer so insulting that he walks. A good deal and we can absolutely still contend.

Sounds like he’s ready to take a fair deal and be done with uncertainty until he’s ready to sail off into the sunset.

JBB and Stammer both seem to want this. I understand the formality needed but stop testing and just kiss already!!!!! 🥺

He talked about this earlier today. Julian loved How stamkos has been competing these last 2 months. I believe Julian feels stamkos has Definitely earned his pay. They just need to hammer it out since the cap is tighter than mayonnaise jar. BUT I believe Stamkos is definitely staying. ❤️

Others have said this recently and I’ve been saying it since the contract discussion first began: I would rather be stuck in purgatory for the next several years and keep Stammer on the team than try to compete again without him. We have two cups and three finals appearances in the last few years. Another cup would be amazing, but even if this team somehow got great again that would never be guaranteed. What I want more than anything is to watch my captain continue to play for my team.

Stamkos isn’t stupid and I’d doubt he won’t resign unless Tampa’s best offer is a bag of pucks.  He also has to know how this team needs some breathing room with the Cap.  I wonder if he’s prepared to take a little less to get Duclair signed.

To hear the ESPN announcers talk you would think that Stammer had the UHaul packed and was just waiting for the series to finish.

Hope they can get this worked out soon, if that’s what both sides want.

Could see a team like the Rangers falling short this year, and making Stamkos a Godfather offer. The Rangers have a nice collection of players, but no undisputed leader, and certainly not a Captain (Trouba) who would command the respect that Stamkos would.

Like I said last fall – it made zero sense to go into the season w/o Stamkos getting a contract, and it still doesn’t.

I want Stammer back so bad. He needs to retire a Bolt. I got a Point Stanley Cup jersey after the 2020 season (Stammer didn’t play much due to his injury). Got a Hedman after the 2021 season. I always get 1 jersey when a team of mine wins a championship. I have always wanted a Stammer one though because he’s been here forever. Anyway, when this season ended I picked up a 2021 Stammer jersey. I know Adidas won’t be making the jerseys next season and if Stammer leaves I might not be able to get one so I pulled the trigger. He will always be our captain and they need to put a statue of him at Amalie. It will hurt if he leaves but I respect his decision either way and will wish him the best…but…PLEASE come back Stammer! OH CAPTAIN MY CAPTAIN!!!

  13. The cap is the cap. Management has already paid out on other contracts and there is only so much money left. If Stamkos wants to stay, he can stay.

My point is, if Stamkos decides to stay then **we** have to respect his decision, even if he’s getting less than we wanted.

Pay him 4×4. So team friendly yet enough for him and really gives the team options to stay competitive. Then pay him the fucking bag once he’s retired and working for the team

  15. Immediate_Type9114

People can say what they want about him aging and everything, but he was literally one of, of not the only, giving his all, every second of the playoffs. And was easily our best performer imo.

Besides all that, he’s our Captain, has been here his entire career, the team is still good. Make a couple changes to the bottom 6, and we’re fine. He’s 100% earned the right to retire here. But we can’t low-ball him though. I say 6-7 mil a year for a few years and he stays easily. Tampa is his home now.

  16. doineedsunscreen

If he takes a SECOND friendly deal (I’d call friendly at ~6.5M AAV or under), this man better have the cushiest media/corporate job lined up for the day he retires…

Don’t tell the ESPN sportscasters that. They think stamkos is done playing in Tampa, maybe even forever. Fucking jackass casters don’t know what they’re talking about
