Honestly there needs to be some shakeup in that squad. You’re just emboldening the status quo and a culture of losing if nobody gets traded. Man even trade Mathews if you need to for a top D and other assets. There needs to be a change, keeping it as is = embracing a losers mentality.

What about going after Jay Woodcroft for head coach? He showed in Edmonton that he can coach elite players extremely well and knows how to use an offensive unit to its best capabilities. Torontos biggest problem has been scoring in the playoffs and Woodcroft had a great record as a coach with a similarly built team to Toronto just got screwed by poor goaltending for the most part.
